We had spring/summer like temperatures the past few days; even I went out without a sweater. The fall foliage here has been stunning. Yesterday it seemed to be a shower of color as the leaves fell from the trees.
I had a wonderful dinner the other night with a few former colleagues. We get together about every six weeks and catch-up with life over an excellent dinner and good wine.
Believe it or not, I went almost the entire week without a nap. I'm hoping that means I'm getting stronger within the body. I did cook last Sunday and I think I stood too long and exhausted myself so I took a nap and also had problems with my ankles locking on Monday. At least I had fun concocting meals that are easy to reheat over the next few weeks and won't lose their flavors. I made a shredded pork loin and then shredded it for chili, enchiladas, and BBQ. So far the enchiladas and BBQ have been delicious. Saving the chili for when it's a little cooler temps.
Major accomplishment of the week - I met with a contractor to discuss a couple of home projects. Company was recommended by a friend and after my due diligence we seem to be headed to finally getting work done we have wanted for a long time. I have a list of projects we created several years ago and as we get things done I cross the item off. Believe it or not these projects have been on the top of the list from almost the beginning. I guess it's about time...LOL!
Cleaned out a couple of shelves of miscellaneous items no longer needed to include kitchen gadgets and various designs, sizes and shapes of candle holders. Believe it or not many still in original boxes. For several years I supported many friends with home businesses and purchased many items I loved at the time, but then never used. I stopped attending these parties so I'm not tempted to order anything. All items are gone now to a local charity having a thrift sale in a few weeks and I'm sure others will get much pleasure out of the items. Sometimes you just know it's time to clear out.
This past week I finished reading: "ONE ITALIAN SUMMER" by Rebecca Serle - a different type of summer romance. A quick one day read. "UP HOME" by Ruth J. Simmons - a girl's journey from a sharecropper family in the south to the first black president of an Ivy League University - a very good book. "THE DIAMOND EYE" by Kate Quinn - based on the true story of the first female Russian sniper during World War II - amazing story.
