I had an overall good week. My client and her dog kept me busy which is always good (as my mom used to say - kept me out of trouble!). We took her dog to the vet. I have never seen a more compliant dog. She got in the van and laid down on the floor and rode the entire way without a peep, she shook in fear, but not a sound/movement. She went in the vet's office without any hesitation and was a better patient than half the humans I know (I was able to stay with her). She's in good shape and was given an antibiotic for a virus. What I loved is that the technician twice went out to the van to speak with my client and let her know everything that happened and about the medication.
My client has mobility issues due to two accidents last year. She barely goes out (overall health issues) and was really scared about going in the car to the vet's office. But as she would do anything for her son, she would do anything for her dog. We got her in/out of van very carefully, takes a bit of time and I could see the pain/exertion on her face. She stayed in the car at the vet. She told me the next day that she and the dog rested quite a bit after I left for the day. The harder part was my client knew we had to do it again the next day for her own appointment with the doctor's office. She was exhausted again, but learned she could do it (if needed) and she set a few new goals for getting stronger. I will say I was nervous both days as I did not want to cause her any additional pain. I was glad to be there for her - reminded me of when I took my dad places loading up the rollator and ensuring walkways were accessible.
This past week I finished reading: "ONE DAY IN DECEMBER" by Josie Silver (Reese's Book Club) - friendship and love. "TEARS OF INNOCENCE" AND "THE HAPSBURG VARIATION" by Bill Rapp - books 1 and 2 of the Cold War Thriller series - espionage and history. All the books I read this week were very good.
