Have you started watching the Hallmark Christmas movies? OK, I confess I checked out the guide and saw a few old ones I had not seen so I recorded them. I watched an excellent PBS show this past week - "Songwriting With Soldiers." It was very well done and I should not watch these types of shows when I tired because I shed quite a few tears.
Overall, I had a quiet week. I did not realize how much I spent alone until I looked back over the week. I was quite busy as I sorted and organized. I strolled down memory lane much of the time as I tried to determine what to bring back to VA with me and what to just let go. I have determined that in the spring I will work with an agent and put the house on the market. I want the winter/early spring to give me time without the pressure to get any work done and donate as appropriate. I am meeting with a real estate agent today to have a discussion (just discussion). I am keeping the house for the winter so I have an opportunity to come back/forth to continue sorting out.
I broke down and turned on the electric heat in two rooms late last Sunday as it got super chilly in the house. When the tech came Wednesday for the annual system check, he and I both did not realize what a job it would turn out to be. I thought it would be a simple reset or something...LOL! Thank goodness its under warranty. The tech spent several hours here and now the new motor and fan run effortlessly.
I had a great time as I caught up with a few of my oldest friends. One friend took the day off from work to come spend most of the day. We had an awesome time. (Please forgive the mess you walked into as I have stuffed piled up all over.) Yesterday, I was able to travel to north of Boston and catch up with a few of my Italian sisters/family. Thank you Chris for hosting and the delicious food...your new place is beautiful and cozy. I know will enjoy being close to the family. It's been a while since I've seen them so it was great to reminisce. I watched many of these sisters grow up and have families and shared many laughs and meals with them. Lots of emotions and love shared. Please give my love to those that could not be there.
When I look at my friendships, I realize that many of them are very very long term. The friends I spent time with this past week have been in my life about 45 years. I have always said once you come into my life you can't get away easily. I am so blessed. I hope you have long-lasting relationships in your life.
I have slept so deep most of the week. I am still up at o'dark thirty, but feel a bit more rested. Although I still look/listen for Lady, I don't have extra lights on so it's nice and dark in the bedroom. I realized Friday that I could actually put on my pjs and slippers instead of staying completely dressed as I no longer need to walk Lady. I look for her as I walk around. I have washed all her blankets/pillows/etc. I did place her collar on my dad's grave and let him know I fulfilled his wishes.
