Overall, I had a great week. I went out to breakfast with a dear friend who is such a part of my local support system. I have not been out to breakfast in quite a while. We sat and chatted for a couple of hours. Such a great visit. I also went grocery shopping - yes I did. I felt good that day and was able to get a few steps in as I walked up/down the aisles. I even cooked up a few meals. Working hard on using the energy when I have it.
First Topic - let me provide the good news of the week. I had a brain MRI on Monday evening. It had been scheduled so it was not an emergency. The oncologist office called to let me know: 1. I do have a brain and 2. There is NO NO sign of cancer!!!! I shed a few happy tears. The treatments will continue as scheduled and I will continue to have blood tests and scans every months. So I don't know if I'm in remission or not, but that's for discussion in February.
Second Topic - I know guilt is a useless emotion, but it does mean it won't raise it's ugly head even with me. I feel guilty for not having adverse reactions to my treatment. I am so thankful and blessed that I don't, but when I hear/read/see so may others having such horrible side effects I feel guilt. Logically, I know every person has different levels of treatments and regimens, but it does not stop my heart from hurting for others.
Third Topic - I had to laugh this past week as I realized how conversations change as we age. When we are young it's about partying, working, etc. But lately it seems whether I'm part of the conversation or I'm eavesdropping on others (yes I admit I do that), the conversations involve medical conditions, insurance, or caregiving. When I realized this the other day, I mentioned it my BFF and we both laughed out loud. What do you think? Have you noticed conversational changes?
Fourth Topic - We tried Tom Hanks' new drink the other evening. Not sure if you've seen it, but its champagne and diet coke. This is how I celebrated the good news from my doctor. I have to say, I was not sure what to expect, but it actually tasted pretty good.
Fifth Topic - Miscellaneous stuff...I mentioned in previous posts that I wear a hat/turban 99% of the time. Well, with the chill in the air, I have found how much heat loss there is through the head. If I don't have a hat on, I feel the cold...brrr. I also mentioned in previous posts that I feel tired...well, the other day it was overcast, cold and dreary. I bundled up in my blanket and ended up taking two naps in one day! I just could not wake up and being comfy warm from my head to my toes, I went to sleep. My watch monitors my sleeping habits and it indicated: NAPS-Excessive!!! LOL!

This past week I finished reading: "MUZZLED", "DACHSHUND THROUGH THE SNOW", and "BARK OF NIGHT" all by David Rosenfelt - all part of the Andy Carpenter series. "MY MOTHER'S SECRET" by J. L. WITTERICK - based on a true holocaust survivor.
A huge birthday shout out this week to my friend Donna, whom I've known since high school, as she celebrates later this week.
I'm leaving it here for today....if you've last this long I appreciate it. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
