I do hope your Thanksgiving was full of gratitude and you celebrated the way you wanted. It was a peaceful day for me. I had dinner with my BFF although neither of us cooked - we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel. I could not believe how many people were there. The meal was fine and we each had enough left over to enjoy later. I don't want my friends to be offended that I went out to eat - I know we both had plenty of offers. I just felt like a day of nothing - I slept in a little, got caught up on some shows, read a bit and just chilled. I spoke to my mom and dad via phone and they both sounded good and had enjoyed the dinner my sister prepared and with her family brought it to the nursing home.
Did you have stress over Thanksgiving? What brought it on? Trying to do too much? Trying to please too many? Dealing with people that you really don't want to be around? I have been there so many times myself. How did you handle the stress of family and friends? Do you know what triggers the stress in you? May I coach you?
Did you go shopping on Black Friday? Were you swept up into the craziness? I have never been a Black Friday shopper as I'm not a fan of the madness. Some people love the excitement of trying to get a bargain. I did go out to lunch with some friends and then later in the afternoon on my way home from the chiropractor I did a little bit of shopping. I actually went to the mall on the day before Thanksgiving as it was snowing here and I knew it would be fairly empty. I got some good deals on Wednesday so I was happy. I wanted to finish my shopping for my Virginia friends since I'm leaving town this coming week. I have already sent a few things to my parent's house so I can wrap and such while there for my family.
December will be a busy month for me as I have a couple of things planned for the family while there. Just trying to do some different things together to create some lasting memories. I have not overbooked as I want time to enjoy being there with dad and seeing mom every day. I hope to see my friends while there, but they understand what life is like at the moment. Is your December booked with parties, friends and family? Remember to take time for yourself and breathe! If I can help you with that, please reach out.
I know my body is getting stronger (thank you Frank), but I am like many others and need to work on my mind and emotions. I can bench press 65 pounds, plank with a 25 pound weight on my back, and do things physically that I would never thought I could do ever. Yet, I still let my emotions and feelings control the food I put in my mouth. I am working at it daily to eat healthier, but this morning I have already eaten some peppermint bark. I knew buying it this morning that I wanted it and would eat some. I think the accomplishment for me is that I tasted it and was able to put it aside - another words I did not wolf it down in one full swoop. So as I was putting it in my mouth I thought - are you eating this to because of an emotion? Am I tired? Am I stressed? The answer to all was no so perhaps that was why I could eat just part and not the whole. I hate to admit this, but sometimes it is easier for me to eat out and make decent choices. Then, I bring it home for leftovers which means I save some money as I have two or three meals out of one. I can tell when I'm tired as I want to munch. I love crunch when that happens which means smarter choices on what I put in my mouth. I am starting my food journal again this week which should help me keep things in check and get a better handle on the why. Do you have any tricks? Any suggestions? What do you do when you feel the emotions bubbling?
Thanks for your patience as I seem to be having a hard time publishing my blog lately. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'll get it figured out. From my perspective it will appear to be published and then when I see it - it's not there or only partially appears. I'll have to bone up on my techie skills (LOL!). I'm sure it's something silly, so now I have myself on the distribution so I can see what you see and correct it if needed.
I am going to leave it here for today. I hope you have a wonderful week. Take care of yourself. Chat soon. Marie
