I had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner with dear friends and their family. My friend Mary and I had a relaxing Christmas morning breakfast together with mimosas. My family arrived late Christmas night and the day after. We celebrated together with food and a few new traditions. The family was amazed at all the Christmas decorations up in the house! The family went down to DC to see the holiday displays (they had a great weather day for walking around the city), while I had an appt or two . My sister and one nephew taught another to play cribbage. We went to their favorite Air and Space museum so they could relive their own memories of visiting previously. They are all leaving at some point today so we starting gathering up belongings last night and loading the car. Sending them back with frozen solid chili and spaghetti sauce so they can enjoy. It will definitely be quieter this afternoon as I begin the clean up and watch the Patriots play. I may finish up watching a couple of the Christmas movies I recorded (almost done)...LOL!!
Are you ready for the New Year/New Decade? Sometimes I find it hard to believe that a new decade is starting and all that I have lived through so far in my life. I was born in the late 1950s so when I think about it, 2020 is the start of the 7th decade in my life. WOW does that make me feel a bit older. This is the time of year for introspection (at least for me) and I can say oh my goodness the life I have led so far...LOL! When I talk with my senior clients I try to get them to talk about their story and what they've experienced as a way to recall memories and learn about them. But even for myself when I think about all that has happened with technology, travel, science, space, etc.; I am amazed at this awesome world. I remember when I was young I thought everything was so far away as my world consisted of my neighborhood and city. Now, I think of how easy it is to go places, learn about different people and cultures, and experience new things. I think about how I am blessed to have choices, of where I want to live and how long I want to commute, where I want to shop, etc. What about you?
I have said previously that I do NOT make resolutions and I will NOT again this year. My goal is to take steps (whether baby or giant) toward consolidating houses and stuff, work on my physical health a bit more (got lazy there for a while), and continue to live my best life. Perhaps I'll work on being a little less cynical....hmmm this is a hard one. I don't beat myself up when I stumble, just start focusing again. I also want to focus on creating new memories and being open to new possibilities....so much of life ahead and I want to experience it. What about you?
