We definitely had a touch of fall this past week and it felt wonderful. This is the time of year when I feel more tired. The little bit of darkness in the morning does not make me want to jump out of bed and start the day. On my two days off, I actually turned over and went back to sleep for a bit longer. I know I've mentioned it previously that I am definitely impacted by the seasonal change and definitely have to push myself a bit more.
Overall, my week went well at work. My client was cooperative and easygoing most of the week. Friday was a different story as the weather was overcast and cool. He was overcome with tiredness and loved being wrapped in his blanket. He would provide one word answers and ignore any requests. He was like this for his OT person and he's known her a lot longer. When she said she had to leave if he was not going to get up, he said, "ok good bye." We both determined that he was impacted by the change of seasons and perhaps a bit of allergies. He finally decided to move from his comfortable chair at almost noon and then was somewhat cooperative for the rest of my shift. We all have those days so it's something we note as we monitor for changes.
I was surprised when I asked to be a moderator for the private caregivers group I belong to on FB. I thanked the admin and she said, I have offered so much to the group that it's a natural next step. It's a little bit of work as I read through requests and writings, but it's a privilege to be part of the group.
I was saddened by the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg - not because I knew her, but because of all she represented. I had known a little about her in general and always thought her courageous and strong. I watched the movie "On The Basis of Sex" only a few months ago and was so impressed by her tale. She was definitely a voice of reason and a role model for so many.
I finished reading: "DAISY JONES & THE SIX" by Taylor Jenkins Reid (Reese's Book Club) - the making and breaking of a sixties rock band. "FRIENDS AND STRANGERS" by J. Courtney Sullivan (Read With Jenna) - Interesting read about life changing friendships. "ONCE WE WERE BROTHERS" by Ronald H. Balson - heart rendering story of a family in war-torn Poland in WWII and then now in Chicago. I also watched: "The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby" (2005) - a movie set in Scotland about a dog who will not leave his master's grave.
