"Thoughts for a Sunday"
Hope this finds you well. I am not going to put a blog out today. I might try for next week, but no guarantee. I'm on a road trip and run out of energy by the end of the day.

Hi Everyone! Hope this finds you well and you had a good week. My heart and prayers are with those in Maui in the aftermath of the fires. I'm not sure I would have had the presence of mind, as some did, to jump in the water to survive.
Did you ever have one of those weeks that started off not so great only to have it turn around completely? That was my week. Started with the dentist advising I have a cavity on the side of my front tooth although my gums are really good. Then my van did not pass inspection as a tire had a puncture and needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced overnight and I passed inspection the next day. I did think if the week starts this way...what else can happen? Well, the week completely turned around. I had a follow-up with the oncologist. ALL IS GOOD!!!! I will continue treatment through December and then scans/tests/followups every six months. She says so far my prognosis is excellent. She is glad I am weaning off prednisone and indicated when treatment is over much of my joint pain will more than likely go away after a few months. I know I teared up with the news and said a quick prayer of thanks to my angels. I was so excited by the news I went and bought a new laptop...LOL! I went to the movies with some friends this week. I can't tell you the last time I went to the movies or what I saw. I know it was several years before the pandemic when I was in Plymouth. We saw Oppenheimer and it was excellent. It's a long one, but there was so much I did not know or realize about that period of time and about the man. I have to say for the first time at a movie I did not have anything to eat or drink. I knew it was a long movie and did not want to miss anything...LOL! Let's talk about the previews...YUCK! I don't think there was a movie I wanted to see. After the movie we went out to dinner and discussed what we learned. The rest of the week was quiet. I continue to wean off prednisone and will continue for the next few days. So far so good. I am able to tolerate the joint pain and swelling. I hardly napped this week so I'm thinking my thyroid is doing better (either that or the good oncology news gave me new energy)...we'll see after the next testing. This past week I finished reading: "HER FINAL CONFESSION"; "THE BONES SHE BURIED"; "HER SILENT CRY"; and "COLD HEART CREEK" - by Lisa Regan - books 4 thru 7 of the Detective Josie Quinn series. Some people binge watch TV shows - I binge read book series. The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about: August 13 Left Hander’s Day August 14 National Creamsicle Day 14/15 V-J Day – which date do you celebrate as the end of WWII? August 15 Feast of the Assumption Relaxation Day – now this one’s for me! Tomatoes Galore Day August 16 National Roller Coaster Day National Tell a Joke Day August 17 National Thriftshop Day Neighbor Night August 18 Bad Poetry Day National Fajita Day Serendipity Day August 19 Aviation Day National Honey Bee Awareness Day – Third Saturday National Potato Day World Photography Day I'm going to leave it here for today. Think I'll strip the bed and get some things ready for the laundry. I hope you have a good week where you are. Take care. Chat soon. The first Sunday of August finds us still in the summer heat, but knowing fall is on the way. Hoping you are creating lots of summer memories for yourself.
Overall, I had a good week. I was very social and did not nap every day...LOL! I can't say going without a nap makes my overnight sleep any better/longer. Here it is 3:49 am and I'm typing away. Oh well, today I can predict with a high probability there will be a nap after I get some meals prepared. Started the week with an electrician as we had an inspection and some work done. We had a whole house surge protector installed and replaced our outside lights with motion detectors/cameras. We've talked about it for a while, but finally got around to getting it done. We did find out our electrical panel is original (50 years old) and hardly anything is marked...so thinking about upgrading. Possibility a decision for the fall. I had an awesome dinner with some former colleagues at our usual favorite restaurant. Had such a good time catching up and of course the wine and food on point. We try to get together every six weeks or so it's amazing what happens in all our lives in those weeks. I had PT this week. We had quite a few laughs over the 45 minute session. He reviewed how I was doing with my exercises and of course added a few more. He told me my file is officially noted how clumsy I said I've been for many years so we are working on balance. (Not sure how I feel about it being duly noted...LOL!) One of the exercises he had me work on reminded me of Jazzercise moves I've done and told him. He thought that was hysterical and could not believe I did Jazzercise for so many years, but then wanted to know about it so I think it gave him ideas. I surprised my former client with a visit and brought her favorite cookies (which means I went to the grocery store). I don't like to give her advanced warning just in case I don't make it. I received lots of love and fur from her dog Sweetie (yes I brought her some treats as well). She seems very nice and helpful and a dog lover. I had a nice long lunch yesterday with a dear dear friend. We had such a good time catching up and before we knew it 4 hours flew by. WOW! We were luckily in the fact that the restaurant was not super busy and no one bothered us at all. As you can tell, my movements this past week were plentiful. Some days a bit slower than other days, but overall making it work. Prednisone dosage lowered twice and will lower again today. We'll see what happens. I'm doing some form of the exercises every day to stretch and try to keep limber. Overall, feeling blessed to keep moving. I have a friend who sells Polish Pottery. I noticed last week on her website she had a beautiful Angel. Many of you know I love and believe in angels. I have two tables with angels on them in my view and at least one angel in every room. I have energy cards, stones, sage, etc as well. I tried to order, but the website was giving me a hard time so I reached out to my friend so she could help. Yesterday I received a package in the mail the angel with a beautiful note (yes tears came) as it was gifted to me. I have it on my table and once I reorganize the spaces I will put some pictures in a blog. I cant express how grateful and thankful I am for this special gift. This past week I finished reading: "MURDER IS NO PICNIC" by Amy Pershing - book 3 of the Cape Cod Foodie Mystery series. "BAD LITTLE FALLS" by Paul Doiron - murder mystery set in the backwoods of Northern Maine. "THE GIRL WITH NO NAME" and "HER MOTHER"S GRAVE" by Lisa Regan - books 2 and 3 in the Detective Josie Quinn series. Guess it my week for murder/mayhem. The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about: August 6 Friendship Day – First Sunday in August International Forgiveness Day – First Sunday in August National Fresh Breath Day Sisters Day – First Sunday in August Wiggle Your Toes Day August 7 National Lighthouse Day Professional Speakers Day August 8 Happiness Happens Day International Cat Day Sneak Some Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch Day – now that’s nasty! August 9 Book Lover’s Day Smokey Bear Day August 10 Lazy Day National S’mores Day World Lion Day August 11 National Kool-Aid Day – second Friday in August Presidential Joke Day Son and Daughter Day Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony – not until 2024 August 12 Annual Perseid Meteor Shower – Peak Night – peak date varies slightly Middle Child’s Day – second Saturday in August National Garage Sale Day – second Saturday in August National Vinyl Record Day World Elephant Day I'm leaving it here for today. I might try to go back to bed for a while...we'll see. If not, I always have a book to read. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon.
