Have you watched the Olympics? I have to admit I have never watched so much of them. When I'm home it's on the TV as background noise mostly, but I have watched events I've never paid attention to before and learned about many others. I can't imagine how they feel not having family and friends around, yet I love to see the watch parties from all over and how they are cheering each other on. I really listen for the personal stories as those always fascinate me. I definitely get tired of some of the announcers and their comments. I will never understand clothing rules, but at least I don't have to abide by them. I'm very proud of Simone Biles for having the guts and sense to withdraw for her health and well-being. It's hard enough to imagine the pressure she felt, but to have the twisties on top...overwhelming. If the twisties are anything like the imbalance/disorientation I feel when vertigo is acting up, I so empathize. I have read quite a few postings/essays in support of her decision and how it was medically the right thing to do. Congratulations to her teammates who supported her and stepped up as they came into their own.
Work was busy between my two clients, they kept me hopping. My one client turned 94 and she is so sassy and fun. She called me a few times before my scheduled shift as she wanted me to bring in some snacks, wine, etc. as she was expecting a few neighbors to stop by. She made me laugh when I asked what kind of wine she responded, I don't drink wine I drink beer so buy one white and one red (big bottles). When I arrived at her house, I found an empty box of Godiva chocolates (I think it was a 12 piece box). I did not say a word, but she told me she ate the whole box the day before. I said, you are lucky you are not in a sugar coma! She just laughed and said she knows she is lucky. She loves her chocolate and told me she hides the good stuff from her family when they visit. I offered to bring her whatever she wanted for lunch on her special day and she requested a steak sub from Tony's around the corner from her house. She said, we will split it. As I ate my half, she wolfed down her half and the chips I put with it. I almost felt guilty for eating my half. She still has an appetite as long as she does not have to cook it.
Well, a big change this week. After almost 16 years, our condo in Myrtle Beach goes on the market. It was good as an investment, but when we sat down and looked at the big picture, we realized our total time spent there does even equal a year. It was never intended to be a retirement home, but I did think we would get to spend a little more time there. We are tired of dealing with the property management company and the HOA company seems to have some issues (at least it's forcing the homeowners to become more involved). I was very involved for a few years and then life got in the way. The market is moving so we are hoping to get through the process quickly and easily. I can't wait to see the pics and listing as we are selling it furnished. Who knows what will come next!
This past week I finished reading: "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN CUBA" by Chanel Cleeton and "WALK IN MY COMBAT BOOTS" by James Patterson and Matt Eversmann. Totally different books, but both good.
