Well, it's Thanksgiving week. A time when many people experience a lot of different emotions and stressors abound whether self-inflicted or brought on by others. Sometimes, I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to have the ideal holiday...remember people "perfectionism does not exist!". Do not try to do it all or perhaps I should say too much. Let others help in some way, shape or form...take it from someone who tried to do all and be all for many years. Although, I must admit I miss "Friendsgiving" so that may have to come back soon. My wish for you this Thanksgiving is to please be gentle with yourself and take a moment to be present and grateful. For those traveling, be safe and practice a little patience.
I get a little down this time of year as I'm sure many do. Memories of so many of those that have gone before us come to the forefront as holiday time nears. Yet, even as I'm writing this I can hear laughter and joy in the recesses of my mind as my eyes tear up. I'm doing my best to be positive for myself and others. I know it will be a year of new traditions and events - as I like to say the new norm and that's not a bad thing.
I had a busy week. Yes, I worked some part of every day. I filled in while others were sick so I got to meet some different clients. Each client is unique, it's finding the connection and hearing their stories that always keeps me going. It's keeping the paperwork up-to-date on each person and getting my time records signed appropriately that I have to remember...LOL!
I am grateful this week that I had the foresight to purchase the warranty when I bought my eyeglasses several months ago. Its not because I might lose them, but because I am a klutz. A few weeks ago, I dropped my glasses on the concrete walkway outside our house and naturally they fell lens down. I have a few scratches right in the center of the eye...absolutely driving me crazy. I stopped by to see if they could be fixed (not sure why I thought you could buff out glass...LOL), but they can not. Luckily, they looked up to see if I had the warranty and a whole new pair of glasses is waiting for pick up Monday free of charge. This is the second time in the last few months where warranties have saved me quite a bit of money.
I finished reading: "THE POWER OF FOCUS FOR WOMEN" by Fran Hewitt and Les Hewitt. A very well written, easy to put into practice, guide for challenges and change. I have had this book on a shelf for many years, guess I finally needed to read it.
Don't ask me why I recorded and then watched yesterday the movie: A DOG'S WAY HOME" It was very good. I shed quite a few tears throughout the movie. But when I think about it, perhaps that's what I needed.
