Overall, I had a good week. The best news of the week was I had an appointment with the oncologist and all the news was good. Originally, I had been told I was stage 4 and the oncologist said I was actually stage 2B which has a much better overall prognosis. She also said my numbers are good and hopefully will continue to be. I have a rash (which is a normal side effect of the treatment) so now I have a prescription steroid cream if needed. She also indicated my tiredness is also normal and I was doing the right thing to rest as needed. I will continue on the treatment path for a year as long as the numbers are good and my body tolerates the treatment.
I did work one day this week. I was asked by the boss if I could cover one day. I actually think it was her way of ensuring I check on my client. My client was surprised when I appeared and concerned about me. As I walked the dog she was motivated to get dressed and ready for the day. My client did not look great and we had a long discussion about her delayed trip to the hospital. She has an appointment with her primary this week so keeping my fingers crossed she is on the mend.
I had dinner out with friends the other night at a newer local restaurant for us and it was crazy. When we made the reservations none of us thought of the fact that it was Fat Tuesday and we were headed to a Cajun themed restaurant. It was louder than a party on Bourbon Street. I don't think it was their best night as they ran out of items and the kitchen was so backed-up it took more than an hour for food. I wrote a fair/balanced review and the manager reached out to apologize...which surprised me. I will try the restaurant again, just will be sure there is no party planned.
Thank goodness I was thinking ahead and ordered some lightweight caps for the summer. I have to say, scrub caps for nurses are one of the best products. They are cotton, have a built-in sweatband, washable, and come in fun designs. I wore one the other day on my walk when it was 80 and it was wonderful. I have a bunch of winter hats both heavier knitted and lightweight fleece, but now have a collection of scrub caps. It's the little things that may be smile.
This past week I finished reading: "BRAVE FACE" by I. Caroline Crocker and Meta A. Evenbly - a memoir of a Dutch/German girl during WWII - very good. I watched the docuseries: "MURDER IN BIG HORN" - 3 part series on the missing indigenous women in Montana. Also, the documetary: "NOTHING LASTS FOREVER" - about the DeBeers diamond cartel.
