Overall, the week went well. As I wrote the other day, it was so peaceful sitting in the park that if I had any stress it completely disappeared. I did get a bit of good news this week. The social worker that is responsible for my mom's floor has submitted her resignation. I know I should not be happy, but I was doing a dance of joy. I also realize the devil you know is better than the one you don't, but I am hoping that they find someone who really wants to do the job. I obtained a copy of the job posting so I could actually determine what is required to do the job and the function since she could never explain it to me. Have you ever been happy when you think you should not?
We have company this weekend as our friends (Leann and Lily) visit from Illinois. I felt bad that I had to go to bed instead of have fun, but it was better that way. Perhaps they won't catch whatever germ I have. My BFF and friends just left for Atlantic City where Lily will be in a dance competition. She was demonstrating a little bit for me and I wish her good luck!
As you know I love to support local places. The other day I went to the new storefront of Sweet Signatures http://www.sweet-signatures.com/. They started as an online company and opened a storefront/coffee shop. I loved it! I met the owner as well as one of the workers. So clean, neat, cute items to buy besides the chocolates and pastries. I tried the Rolo Cheesecake - YUM!! If you arrive at certain times you can watch them make chocolates or bake. If you are in the Sterling area, you might want to stop by as it's a nice place to sit and chill. I get nothing for this shout out as the owner does not know that I mentioned her today. Any places you want me to try?
I think my cold has dulled my thought process as I have nothing profound to talk about today.
I did finish reading: "Senator" by Richard Bowker. It's about a senator from Massachusetts and his upcoming election. Deals with the family dynamics and the political aspirations of a person. Pretty quick read.
I have to say that I am not a huge flower or bush person, but here in Virginia we have the most beautiful crepe myrtle trees which to me, in many cases, look like bushes. They are gorgeous in color - pink, red, purple and white. They can grow enormous. What I truly love about them is that they bloom here in the summer when everything else appears to be sleeping from the heat. These are a big hit throughout the south. They make me happy when I see them blooming. I also love butterfly bushes and have one that I received as a gift in my front yard. I love the color and it does attract some pretty butterflies. Which summer blooms to do you like? Which ones make you happy?
I am going to leave it here for today as I feel the need for a nap - not a long one today. I hope you have a wonderful week. Take care and time to smell the summer. Chat soon. Marie
