Hi Everyone! Hope this finds you well and you had a good week. Here in Plymouth, it's a morning of rain and wind as well as just plain dreary. The storm started during the night and it almost sounds like pellets hitting the house (too warm for sleet/ice as it's 47 degrees). Did you eat lots of turkey and help keep the economy going over the past few days? I did a bit of both...LOL! (Yes I got to BB&B for the coffee sale!) For those of you traveling today...be safe.
It was bone-chilling cold for much of the past week. It was the first time this season I heard the grass crunch as Lady walked and had to keep an eye out for a bit of black ice. If I did not have Lady, I know I would have hibernated instead of trying to get our walks in. We were both bundled up nicely, but a few times I'm pretty sure Lady would have trotted home without me.
It was so much fun perusing FB and seeing all the pictures posted of family/friends celebrating Thanksgiving. Not to say I was not a bit sad and nostalgic for a little while, but when I noticed I felt this way, I turned it around and thought about my blessings. With families spread across the world it's not always easy to celebrate together. So celebrating with those nearby and with friends is awesome. My BFF Patti arrived on Thanksgiving night and it's great to have company. She has enabled me to run errands and get a few extra things done. She also helped prepare Thanksgiving dinner for my family (we got together on Saturday). If we are connected on FB (personally) then you saw all the pictures I posted. Lady was so exhausted last night she put herself to bed!
A huge thank you to my sister Marion. Yesterday she was able to give my mom a mini mani/pedi as well as a haircut. I could not believe how long mom's hair had gotten. With her staying in bed now, it's hard to judge and she's not the most cooperative person for us or the aids.
For some reason over the past few years, I have taken to writing little stories almost daily on my personal page on FB. I believe it's my way of staying connected with friends/family all over the world. When I was younger, the only time I journaled was when I was sad/depressed. I use my postings in a way as a journal, but I truly try to focus on the positive (it so helps chase away the blues). I try to make them humorous and almost always contain a little weather report. (I never realized I included the weather - almost all the time - until a friend wrote me and said I love your weather reports.) It was fun writing stories about "Life With Papa" and when they pop up as FB memories I just smile all over again. Sometimes my daily entries end up part of the Sunday blog in some way, shape or form.
Have you decorated for Xmas yet? I see people in the neighborhood started putting a few things out/up. I will start today with inside and work on outside after the rain stops. I don't do much, but it's fun to spruce up a little. I'm going to put a few things up in mom's room to brighten it up - yesterday I had on Christmas music in her room. Not sure if I'll send out cards or not...I'll just have to see how things go. I used to joke I kept the Post Office in business every holiday with all the cards and packages I sent out...now I just keep Amazon and the Post Office in business with all my orders...LOL!
The kids asked me what I wanted for Xmas and I'm not sure they appreciated my response...LOL! I requested they work together and wash my car windows inside/out (they are horrible) and also the house windows inside/out (not difficult as they fold in and such). They looked at me like I was a crazy woman. I said it won't cost you a penny just a little bit of time - as I'll supply all the materials. It will be a smaller Xmas this year so I thought I would help them out with a free idea. We'll see if that's what I get...LOL!
Although I am catching up on some reading, I did not finish a book. I'll get there slowly, but surely. Any recommendations?
