When my cancer journey began I wrote I would take you along the ride with the ups and downs. I may not tell you in the exact moment when stuff happens, but I will tell you. After I had my petscan, I read the results first and I understood the majority, but there were a few words that had me thinking - hmm problem in another area. When the oncologist office called they let me know that there was no cancer, but there was something that showed on the scan and I would need an MRI. They scheduled it for last Saturday, so I was waiting for results as I wrote the blog. On Monday I saw the results and again from what I could gather it looked good, but I waited patiently for the call which came on Tuesday. The test showed an enlarged node near my liver, but so far so good and it will be watched at every scan as everything else is. All the more reason for scans every few months. For now all treatment will remain the same. As anyone knows waiting for test results is not easy and/or a simple process.
I had a good week (which is all I can ask for). I got plenty of walking in and was social. I visited with my client and brought her and her dog goodies. I got lots of dog love as she did not leave my side. The aid was there was very nice, she said she hears about me all the time (poor thing). She is nice to my client and that's all that matters to me. My client was busy taking pictures and showing me pictures so we had a good visit. I checked her computer for updates and got her all set up. I strolled a couple of stores this week, just wandered to see if anything grabbed my attention, but was not tempted to take anything home. I met friends yesterday and we went to a local arts festival to see and hear their grandson's band play. They play metal music which is not my favorite, but as the festival was outdoors, it did not seem nearly as loud. I had some excellent fish/chips and walked a little - did not really check out the vendors as I have enough...LOL!
Tomorrow starts my next chapter as I will officially be a member of Medicare (thank goodness I get to keep Kaiser as my secondary). I also have an appointment with the DMV to get my real ID as my drivers license expires in May. My papers have been gathered so hopefully it will be an easy appointment. I'm just hoping they let me wear my cap/turban in the picture as I forgot about the appointment last week and had my head shaved.
Funny story for the week - I was walking the other day, nice enough for sweatshirt and no jacket. As I started to pick up speed and get my arms moving a little, I felt a lump under my arm. I thought it was the sweatshirt, but then stopped for a second to check it out and found a missing sock (one of two). Glad I had pants on with a pocket. The next day the other missing sock appeared as I put on my sweatpants. I'm thinking perhaps I should not be washing my socks with my sweats or do a better shaking out as I put things away.
This past week I finished reading: "THESE IMPOSSIBLE THINGS" by Salma El-Wardany - a Read With Jenna selection - three young Muslim women in England and their wants/needs/desires and how their culture/faith/family shape them. "THE ART OF INHERITING SECRETS" and "WHEN WE BELIEVED IN MERMAIDS" by Barbara O'Neal - very good plots with strong women characters. I also watched the movie "TILL" (2022) - very powerful movie.
I was sad to learn yesterday that my old roommate, friend, former colleague John passed away after a battle with leukemia. Tried to see him on our road trip last year, but he was not up to a visit. Although I know he is now without pain and in a better place I hurt a bit. I have many fond memories of him which I will hold in my heart. I will say shortly after I heard the news and was thinking I wonder if I'll get a sign, a small bright red cardinal appeared beside my car. He let me know he's good.
