Work went well as I spent three days of it as a chauffeur to my client and her dog. I took the dog for her walk the other morning and she got sick and did not want to eat anything. I had my client call the vet and got an appointment for the next morning. Her appetite came back a little but she was lethargic and clingy. Turns out to be ear infection and colitis. She received antibiotics and ear wash (I take care of this as I my client can not balance enough to do it). My client has been hearing from her rheumatologist or her office regularly. Her rheumatologist referred her to a pain clinic and when my client received the initial paperwork requesting medical history she was extremely upset. The paperwork asks many in-depth questions related to alcohol/drug abuse and addictions as well as psychological/sociological implications. Many pages of financial questions which really bothered her. As she has never had to answer these types of questions before she felt violated in so many ways. She was so upset she immediately called her rheumatologist and canceled her first appointment with pain management center until she could speak to the doctor. The doctor actually returned the call within two days. I am hoping this week I can convince her to make another appointment and complete paperwork as much as she wants to for now. My client had appointments for tests and an in-person with her primary doctor. I have to say I was glad to see she was actually in with the doctor for about an hour. It's not easy for her to get in/out of my van and then walk in/out of buildings, but she does it. Thank goodness for door handle assist supports and rollator. Two half days of appointments that completely wore her out. As I've said before my job may not be labor intensive, but can still be draining.
This past week I finished reading three books (had down time while waiting for client): "ORDINARY HEROES - A MEMOIR OF 9/11" - Joseph Pfeifer - he was the first fire chief at the World Trade Center and this is written from his perspective. I cried as I read this. "THE CLUB" - Ellery Lloyd (Reese's Book Club) - murder mystery set in an exclusive environment. A little confusing, but good. "JAILHOUSE LAWYER" by James Patterson and Nancy Allen - two different stories in one novel. Two young women attorneys take on the system for innocent clients. Both good stories. I felt accomplished as I finished my backlog of Patterson novels only to have a new one arrive in the mail...LOL!
I am taking a day off this week to spend time with friends as we have a car detailing party. A friend arranged to have a mobile car detail service come to her house and handle multiple vehicles. Since I've wanted to have it done for a long time, it's a wonderful reason to take the day off to visit/eat/laugh and get the van done. I think it's time to plan a vacation...
