I had a very nice drive today and made it through New York in record time. There was a few pockets of traffic in Connecticut (normal) and Rhode Island, but that was about it. The traffic heading south was backed up quite a bit a few times because of construction. Something to look forward to on my return in a few weeks.
As many of you already know from my personal FB page, yesterday Lady crossed the rainbow bridge. Thank you so much for all of your kind thoughts. So I'm a little blue, but also so grateful for the time I had with her. Her health had deteriorated and I probably held out a few weeks longer than I should, but she never seemed to be in pain. She was an excellent companion for my dad and he chuckled about something every day. He enjoyed walking her and even when he used a walker, they could be seen toddling along the service road. In the warm weather he put a lounge chair in the sun and lay there with her under the chair. We got through the death of my parents together as she became my shadow through and through. She was not a cuddle/lap dog, but over the past few weeks would lay in my arms or on my bed for a while. Lady must have known where we were headed as she did not serenade me as usual in the car. The vet's office - staff and techs - were wonderful over the past few weeks and especially yesterday. Lady was more than ready as she lay her head on my arm and let me hold her paw (never did that before). She passed quickly, I think the vet was surprised as well. I shed a few tears before they took her away. I slept last night for the first time in a while without any lights on and no sounds of her collar. I know I fulfilled my dad's wishes and took care of her until the end. I know she's pain free and that's all that matters. I was blessed to have had her in my life and I can honestly say it will be awhile before another one comes in.
Now for something on the lighter side.....the dryer saga continued this past week in Myrtle Beach. It was finally installed on Thursday. You should see the mess/damage left behind and then it does not work properly. Tuns out the maintenance guy did the work instead of Home Depot...so you know all the choice words in my head. Talk about trying to use coaching practices to get some satisfaction and fixes. Hopefully, something will be resolved soon. Our dryer in Sterling works awesome and the handyman came back and put back the trim and frame for the door. At least something worked right in the past few weeks.
Had a great time catching up with the Bunco Babes on Thursday. Not all of us were there, but it was still fun. Bunco to me is more social than dice...LOL!
My neighbor (in Plymouth) just called to check on me. They are lovely ladies (mother/daughter). They saw the car in the driveway....I told her I waved when I came up the ramp, but they must not have seen me. They caught me up on a few things.
I may have to see if I can schedule some energy work and/or massage while here in Plymouth. I feel the need the need for relief!
Finished reading: 19th Christmas by James Patterson. Part of the Women's Murder Club Series. Have to see what's next as I have a small pile here in Plymouth to go through.
