You would think I do not have a care in the world as I sit in the park today. A gorgeous day here in Sterling, Virginia. I am sitting in the shade under a wonderful tree staying cool. I have been sitting here for a couple of hours just hanging out. I finished one book and played a couple of games of solitaire on my tablet...no worries I have another book.
As I look out at the river, a jet ski goes zipping by. I just watched a mom and her kids pull up and carry their stuff to a covered picnic area for a quickie BBQ. The mom is setting up the grill while the kids play kick ball.
I never realized how truly busy this park is - guess I never took the time to check it out. I have seen hikers, bikers, lots of lunchers, a dog loving life without a leash and kids playing outside! Lots of cars go by (mostly slow) as the occupants look for a good spot to chill. I realized in the time I have been here I have mainly heard laughter and birds chirping...how nice is that! I have not heard any one yell or cry out. I just see people of all ages enjoying nature.
The sky is clear, the humidity is down and if I was a more trusting person, I could nap. It is truly peaceful. I feel like I've take a moment to breathe and enjoy the scenery. It makes me realize I do not this enough. I am trying to stay out of my head and stay in the moment. What about you? Do you take a moment to just breathe? Enjoy the scene around you?
Oh well, I ran out of water a little bit ago and the flies are starting to bite....guess that means it's time to call it a day.
I am grateful for the gift of this beautiful day. I am blessed to be able to enjoy it. I hope you enjoy some nature.
P.S. On the way out of the park there were deer on the side of the road eating. I immediately had thoughts of my niece and nephew and how they love to come to this park when they visit just to see the deer. Love you both!
Have a good rest of the week. Chat soon. Marie
