Overall, I had a good week. I traveled back to Virginia with my niece Melanie so I'll be playing tourist for a few days. I am trying to be sure we have some fun and see what she wants to see. She has been getting up to go to the gym with me in the mornings which is great. I then drop her off at home while I go on to Jazzercise. Melanie takes a nap until I get home and then we go from there. Today we went to the National Zoo. It was crowded, but overall a good day. I have not been there in many many years. I did not take her to the National Mall for fireworks as the crowd is just too big for me and I did not want to deal with the weather and security. We did see a great display on Friday in the town next door and then in the neighborhood last night. This week we will see the monuments and perhaps travel out to Luray Caverns. Although I know I drive her crazy, I hope I provide her with some fun memories at the same time. I hope you can see the picture of my BFF Patti, Melanie and I (you might have to go to the actual website to see the picture.
It feels good to be in Virginia for a couple of weeks. I am going to connect with as many people as possible while I'm here. I have a few things to get done while I'm here especially with my other business. It will be shrinking yet again which is good for now. It is difficult to focus on keeping a business going here in Virginia which does need some close attention when I travel a lot. I feel that when I'm settled a bit more I can always expand the business if I have time or the inclination.
I have been thinking today of what, if anything, philosophical I should be writing about. With Independence Day I think about Freedom. I am truly grateful to those who defend and protect my freedom and rights. I appreciate the life I get to lead and cherish the right to vote as an American. I was born here and I worked for everything I have (including the debt..lol). I don't believe in free handouts for anyone. I also believe that if you don't vote you can't complain about the government. As I have been privileged enough to travel to different parts of the world, I appreciate this country in so many ways. I will not discuss politics as I believe no one's views should be pushed on me and I won't push my views on anyone else. Enjoy your freedom and pause to remember how it was attained.
I have not read any books this week as I tried to catch up on my mail which included a months worth of business newspapers. I'm also catching up on magazines. What have you been reading this summer?
I am going to leave it here today as I feel my energy just going downhill quick. I think I need a nap after being outside most of the day. I hope you have a good week. If there are ever any topics you would like me to discuss, just drop me a comment. Go US Women's Soccer Team as they play this evening! Take care. Chat soon. Marie
