My week overall was very good. I was social as I had dinner with friends who I have not seen since September. Thank goodness the restaurant was not as packed as it was the past time I was there (pre-pandemic). It's one of those restaurants where it can be very loud and hard to have a conversation. Great evening.
I must admit I am both tired and energized at the same time. We arrived Friday afternoon and only sat for a little bit when we got moving. We have been busy in NYC and for the first time in quite a while I have walked over 9000 steps two days in a row (and my hips know it). I always joked that if I lived in the city I would be more fit.
We went to the theater Friday night and saw A Beautiful Noise. It's based on the life and music of Neil Diamond. It was awesome! I laughed, cried, sang and did a little chair dancing. Saturday afternoon while my friends went to the opera; I went to a free concert at the Julliard Music School. Saturday evening we all went to Julliard for a free concert. These concerts are all student productions, first come first serve so to speak, and they are so good. Not sure what we are planning for today.
I can't be in NYC without some good food. My friends know all the good places to go and what time we should go to avoid some of the crowds. Many of the restaurants in NYC are small and in some ways intimate (meaning tables are close). Friday night we had wonderful Greek food at Souvlaki GR on the way to the theater. Saturday we shared three different sandwiches from Rosetta's (good pastry too) near Lincoln Center. Saturday night it was Mexican at El Mitote...YUMMY! They had outdoor heated enclosed seating (when we arrived we were the first ones to sit there). Who knows what today will bring in terms of food.
This past week I finished the 6-part docuseries: George & Tammy about George Jones and Tammy Wynette - such an amazing storyline. I honestly don't know how much of it is true. I also read: ANAM CARA (A book of Celtic Wisdom) 25th Anniversary Edition by John O'Donohue - Celtic spirituality broken into modern dialogue - very good.
