Taking the month of October off was exactly what I needed and did not realize it. A change of scenery and exploring does the mind, body and spirit good. We got to see family and friends along the way and that brought more joy and laughter.
Well, our great road trip came to end after 20 days on the road. It was such a great trip - over 4500 miles, 14 hotels, and 13 states. We met quite a few people/characters along the way and passed through many small towns. It was so nice to see in many of the small towns, people working to help their community/towns by restoring and repurposing old buildings and start new businesses. We tried to eat local and try local cuisine as much as possible. We were among the few on our travels that wore masks. The van was so much more comfortable to travel in than we would have been in any of our cars. I won't say the back was completely full as there was still some room and we probably could have made a few more purchases...LOL! I think when I get back to Sterling, it's time to make an appointment to have the van detailed as you can certainly tell it has been on quite a few dusty roads...LOL! Now to think about the next adventure.
Being back in Plymouth is strange in some ways. I will be checking in my old neighbors as we do keep in touch. My sister and family came yesterday to help me clean out storage and pack up the van...the rest is for the kids as they get their own places at some point. I took the long way to my sister's today as I traveled some of the small towns I have not been in for quite a while. I made it almost all the way on instinct and memory and then missed a turn. When I turned on Android Auto, I was only four blocks off from the main road I needed to be on and six miles from my sister....not too bad.
