As we all know Thanksgiving is a time for giving thanks to all those in our lives as well as many other things. I have so many things to be thankful for this year, I don't know where to start. I went back to last year to review what I wrote and found nothing. So I'll start from there.
The past year has been a whirlwind of doctors, phlebotomists, nurses, technicians, etc. I am thankful for everyone who has been in my path of healing. The Doctors who put me in touch with the right people at the right time and pushed when necessary. The surgeons who worked doggedly to make sure they got every bit of cancer and my scarring was minimal. The Phlebotomists who drew lots of blood from me and I hardly had a bruise. All the nurses along the way who never showed impatience or negativity as we maneuvered through my treatments. The Technicians who were kind and efficient during the tests and scans. The PT staff who pushed without being pushy to keep these old joints moving.
I am truly thankful and blessed for all the support (prayers, care packages, help) I received from friends and family all over the world. I may not have seen many of them, but I felt the healing energy. If I could I would give each and every one of you a huge hug!!
I know for some people I dropped off the face of the earth. I did not post of my personal FB page much throughout the year about the journey so some will be surprised when I reach out again.
I am also thankful for the time I had to take of myself. I gave up work (something I thought I would never ever ever do) and focused on healing. Of course, it did not help that I was so tired for much of the past year so I think I would have made a lackadaisical employee at best.
Last but definitely not least; I am THANKFUL for my BFF Patti. She has been my rock, friend, nurse, barber, chauffeur, trip planner and too many other roles to list. Everyone should have a Patti in their lives.
I hope you enjoy time with family and/or friends and take a moment to be thankful. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
