Weather turned toward summer and the humidity has picked up a bit. I do enjoy the long hours of sunlight. The spoilers to being outdoors in this area is the darn cicadas....they are so LOUD and ugly. They are just about everywhere here. Their shells are hard and the crunch if you step on one is disgusting. I'm surprised I don't have dents in my car from the way they hit it. Hopefully, the season will be ending soon and they will go back underground for 17 years.
Overall a quiet week for me. Cleaned out a few things in my room and organized a few others. Did the normal pay the bills at the beginning of the month stuff. I made shredded BBQ pork from scratch (for the first time) and it turned out DELICIOUS! I love that the meat was so tender it could be shredded with a fork. Even the leftovers were pretty good. Definitely will try that again.
Although I only worked two days last week, they were both busy days and included a couple of extra hours. I took my client to Dr appointments and picked up prescriptions for her, etc. It's always interesting when they ask if I'm family. I explain that I'm her companion/caregiver. I let the client decide whether or not they want me in the room. Most people don't understand the difference between a companion and an aid - I explain it simply by saying companions do not perform personal hygiene if at all possible. My boss asked me if I want to take on more clients and I said give me a few days to decide. I still don't want to work full time, but perhaps a few more hours would be good for me especially if the person is close by...LOL!
I'm so glad my acupuncturist returned from Florida. She has been helping me with my arthritic knee and other things. Always have such a great appointment/visit with her.
This past week I finished reading: "THE FOUR WINDS" by Kristin Hannah centered around the depression and the dust bowl. Kristin always has strong women characters. Also, "THE RED BOOK" by James Patterson and David Ellis. Crime and corruption in Chicago. I forgot to mention a couple of weeks ago I watched the documentary: "100% Julian Edelman" very interesting.
