Feliz Cinco de Mayo! I think it's funny that we celebrate the day and in Mexico they do not. Celebrate if you can...perhaps a margarita!
Overall, had a busy week caught up with some friends (not all of them yet) and explored the area (lots of changes, lots of traffic). I finally purchased a new mattress and box spring and had it delivered yesterday. I have not purchased a set for myself in 20 years. I walked in the store Monday (about a minute after opening) and was there for almost 90 minutes. I took the bed match test and then tried at least 8 mattresses before I decided. With what I spent it better last the entire 10 years of the warranty...LOL! I rationalized the cost over the years and it should all work out. I had a Sleep Number for 20 years (motor finally died), but since I was away I did not mind sleeping on dead bed for a little bit. I finally purchased a Tempur-pedic (don't worry it has cooling ability). I have 90 days to decide. I got a free pillow included - awesome pillow for the side sleeper that I am - very supportive. I feel rested this morning and I don't think I tossed and turned so keeping my fingers crossed.
A funny from Saturday - Lady sleeps in my room at the other end on a big thick pad with her quilt. She was sleeping soundly as my BFF and I took apart my old bed and moved things around. Lady slept the entire time the delivery people came in and set up the bed in my room. I swear she never moved. We then made up the new bed and Lady slept. She did not wake up until about 20 minutes after everything was done. But if she's sleeping anywhere in the evening and you open the freezer...she hears that and wants her treats because she figures you are eating ice cream. She does make me laugh.
I was busy in my other business as I have a house that needs some repairs. Scheduling roofers for assessment/estimates/etc for this coming week so it can be done soonest. I reached out to the HOA to ensure I follow the rules/guidelines, but they have not responded, so I'll keep moving forward. Also ensuring some other work has been completed - the tenant was involved in scheduling, but now that I'm back I'm getting it done so to speak. I think I have another year of this business and then it will come to a natural closing point. For a business that started as a favor to a couple of friends over 10 years ago, it's almost time. I'll probably write a bit more about this when it's time.
I had an awesome dinner with former colleagues and friends - awesome company, laughter, food, and wine. Another friend and I went to a new (at least to me) coffee shop for a late lunch - fun time catching up. Have a couple of things on the schedule this week around appointments. Still want to see many people and spend one-on-one time with them so I will get with them at some point.
Something to make you laugh...Because of all the appointments for the other business and trying to get everything fit in (planner that I am...LOL) I actually started using the calendar feature on my phone..LOL! Yes I'm finally tapping into technology as it's the first year in many many years that I do not have a paper calendar in my purse. Now to pay attention to the phone...LOL!
Although I wake up/get up early every day and get myself ready for the day, my mornings don't really get started until Lady is up. Until the past few years I never lazed around in the morning, I was always up and at work o working out within 90 minutes. This has been a weird adjustment for me. I do not believe I'll ever just laze in bed or roll over and go back to sleep, but you never know at the rate I'm going. Most mornings now I'm not heading out the door until at least 10 or even 11...part of me feels like the day is almost over...LOL!
Overall, it was an expensive week between the new mattress and the dentist. Yes, I started my dental work. I need to have a very old crown (that covered a root canal) replaced with an implant. So now to get that all started. The entire process takes about 4 to 6 months so at least I can put a little money aside. Of course, I'm having other work done as well so the outflow of cash will continue.
I keep adding books to my reading list although I have not finished one in a few weeks. I'm in the middle of a good one, perhaps this week I'll finish and let you know. What are you reading? Any suggestions to add to my pile?
Happy early Birthday to my dear friend Margaret!
