I refreshed my brain this past week on the tradition of Advent. Today is the second Sunday of Advent and the candle of Preparation is lit. The advent candles and their colors are packed with rich meaning. Each represents a specific aspect of the spiritual preparations for Christmas. The three main colors are purple, pink, and white. Purple symbolizes repentance and royalty. (In the Catholic church, purple is also the liturgical color at this time of year.) Pink represents joy and rejoicing. And white stands for purity and light. Each candle carries a specific name as well. The first purple candle is called the Prophecy Candle or Candle of Hope. The second purple candle is the Bethlehem Candle or the Candle of Preparation. The third (pink) candle is the Shepherd Candle or Candle of Joy. The fourth candle, a purple one, is called the Angel Candle or the Candle of Love. And the last (white) candle is the Christ Candle. I had a good week as I worked every day. I'm getting used to walking again as I take the dog out twice during my shift and we walk each time for at least 30 minutes. We don't walk fast as she likes to sniff sniff sniff, but we have a couple of routes we take. I must wear the dog out because she naps as soon as we are done. My client usually laughs and asks what I've done to her dog? My ear cuffs and gloves are always at the ready as it's been quite windy. I'm getting known by the neighbors as many are waiving and speaking. I had a woman approach me the other day and knew much about what I do and for whom...LOL! Most people I see are dog polite, meaning we all keep our distance just in case. Many times I will step off the path or stop so they can go around us as I did with my dog Lady. The dog I walk will usually sit down immediately. Every once in a while I encounter people who can't get the hint and come right at us without any forethought. I am polite and reserved as I don't want to upset the animals, but it just bugs me that people presume it's ok to approach without asking.
This past week I finished reading: "THE KENNEDY DEBUTANTE" by Kerri Maher - Based in the 1930s/1940s the story focuses on Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy. I found it very interesting. I also read "2 SISTERS DETECTIVE AGENCY" by James Patterson & Candice Fox - murder and mayhem with a little comedy thrown in. Yes I'm trying to keep with Xmas movies...LOL!
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about:
