I had a good week. Although the detail party was cancelled due to rain possibilities I took the day off any way. I took advantage of the down time and perused a few stores. It was so nice to have the aisles almost to myself as I wandered about. I did not need anything in particular, but picked up a few things. My van was detailed the next day (I dropped it off and borrowed my friend's car for work). When I picked up the van I could not believe how good it looked (prettier than when I purchased it). Perhaps today I'll put in some items I like to carry around with me.
I can't believe it's been five years since my dad/papa passed away (1 Sept). I felt him nudge me quite a bit over the past week. So much has changed in five years. Thank goodness I have lots of memories and stories I can pass along.
I had a very nice dinner last evening with friends at a new restaurant (at least for me). The weather was nice enough to eat outside. The food was good, the margarita was good and being with friends was/is priceless.
My work week went well. My client received some of her test results back and I took her for additional tests. She indicated how prompt her doctor's office has become returning phone calls and scheduling follow up appointments. One test revealed she has been living since last September with a compound fracture of her lower spine. When she had the incident last September (knocked down my loose dog) her hip was shattered and she had emergency surgery; no attention was given to the rest of her body. After her release from the hospital to rehab for six weeks and some home PT there was no follow up of any kind by any doctor. Talk about patient neglect. She thought her pain all this time was because of the hip replacement until she started getting regular shooting pains down her legs more regularly in the last few weeks. She is not a candidate for surgery of any type so not sure what will be done next. My client realizes it's all because of me reporting the doctor to the licensing board that brought all this attention and can't believe it took my action to make it happen. All I can think about is how many others are out there like her with no one to advocate for them.
This past week I finished reading: "TRAILED" by Kathryn Miles - details her quest to solve the Shenandoah murders - very interesting. "THE TURNOUT" by Megan Abbott - psychological mystery - interesting but weird. I watched the 4 part docuseries: "MY LIFE AS A ROLLING STONE" - very well done.

I am leaving it here for today. Meeting with landscaper later to walk through plans for the yard - the drawings look pretty good, but I'm a visual person and need to understand before I agree to anything. Hope you have a great week. For my working friends, enjoy having an extra day off. Chat soon. Take care. Marie
