The weather has been gorgeous here in Sterling. Chilly nights and delightful days - windows and doors open. It was nice enough yesterday for a little yard work - not something I enjoy, but a necessity now and then. I trimmed back two bushes and have a bit to go. Slow and steady will get it done. How about you? Has fall come to your area? Have you noticed the changing colors of the trees and bushes? It seems to happen suddenly.
My mind swirls with all the turmoil in the world, sometimes it's hard to turn off. I won't get into the politics of the moment. Not sure about you, but I have to turn off the news and social media for a bit to get away from the hate. I will say that what makes the world such an interesting place is that we are all different. We don't have to like everyone we meet or be their buddy. We don't have to agree with everything we read and/or hear. We have to listen and read with open minds to determine fact from fiction. We have to stay in a learning mode and know what makes our circles so wonderful are the differences. I do believe in respect above many things - treat me the way you want me to treat you. That's the end of my preaching for today.
The change of weather has brought a few changes with my client. He does seem a bit more tired and harder to get motivated (I can relate). He wants to sleep a bit more and hibernate. He has been a bit more cooperative though about getting ready for the day (which can still take a long time), but once done he's been willing to walk outside for a bit. His daily meds are a whole different issue. Although he takes them a bit easier than he has in the past....he lets them sit on his tongue until they dissolve. Trying to get him to either drink something (anything) with them or eat something to help them go down is a job in itself. He will indulge me with a sip or a nibble and a half hour later stick out his tongue and they are mostly still there. He'll complain about his mouth burning, but getting him to drink anything is like...I have no words. Sometimes we split his pills into separate doses to make it easier and he does the same thing. He's not at the point of crushing his pills into food, but I noticed his spouse has purchased a crusher as we move forward. I know part of it is his way of rebelling a bit, but as I continue to tell him...no choking on my watch! which usually makes him laugh.
This week I finished reading: "HUSH" by James Patterson and Candice Fox as well as "SHADOWS in DEATH" by J. D. Robb. It was a week of murder/mayhem. Think my next read will be a little lighter.
