Although I'm not a church going Catholic, I have my faith and pray almost daily. I remember one year growing up we had an Advent wreath set up and lit the candles as appropriate. Today is the first Sunday of Advent - The first candle, which is purple, symbolizes hope. It is sometimes called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, especially Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ. It represents the expectation felt in anticipation of the coming Messiah. If you would like to know more detailed information: www.mercyhome.org/blog/sunday-mass/advent-wreath/
Well it was a busy week for me. Started the week with PT. We worked on my shoulders and upper body. As I told the PT person, I feel as if my body/muscles are atrophying before my eyes. She gave me a couple of different exercises to work on over the next few weeks.
The new power lift/recliner chair was delivered. I call it an ejector chair since it raises me almost to standing. It is quite comfortable and I was able to take a nap or two without resorting to the couch. It is great help for me. The delivery team thought I was a little nuts when they walked by a completely empty living room and set it up in the dining room, but oh well...it will be set in the right place in a couple of weeks.
As an early Xmas gift my BFF brought me a new rolling/adjustable desk. It was delivered the other day so we broke it open. The funny part is that there were no directions only pictures and some writing in Chinese which neither of us can read. I thought we might have to call our favorite handyman, but instead BFF did most of the work and we got it together in a fairly reasonable amount of time. It works great and is easily moved out of the way as needed.
We (okay me) had a little scare the other day as we had a mouse. It was sitting in a ball on the corner of the rug in our reading room. It scurried when BFF got too close, but an hour later was back in the same spot. BFF was able to cover it with a pot so it could not get away. I immediately start looking at food packages to be sure nothing is gnawed on and checking for droppings. We called pest control (we have quarterly services) and they came out next morning. He laid a few traps and was able to remove the mouse (still under pot). He thinks it might have come from fireplace as he has been handling the outside for a couple of years and has not noticed any gaps, etc. The traps are down for two weeks just in case there are more. He suggested we have the fireplace/chimney cleaned out. Since we are having the fireplace work done, I called the contractor, but since they will be capping/closing off, they will clean it out first.
New tile was delivered for the fireplace wall. The contractor was surprised that we had already cleared the living room and was ready to begin whenever they are. He indicated either late this coming week or early next week it will be done.
I had my 17the treatment on Friday. I am almost done. I have many thoughts about the process and treatments which I'll write about in a couple of weeks.
I have started putting together Xmas cards - thank goodness address list was found. It might take a few days as my hands gets tired, but I am determined to be done this week. I have a few gifts to wrap/mail (I'm almost done shopping as I did much of it online). I need a bit more energy, but it will get all done.
This past week I finished reading: "DISASTER AT THE VENDOME THEATER" - by M. L. Longworth. This is the 10th book in the Provencal Mystery series. I've read a couple and I understand it's also a series on BBC. "MURDER IN CHIANTI" by Camella Trinchieri . This is part of the Tuscan Mystery series. Of course, I watched Xmas movies.
