Overall, I had a good week. I picked up my new glasses and sunglasses the other day so now I just have to get used to them. My prescription did not change much, but a change is a change. I wear progressives and have for years. Usually my sunglasses are bifocal, but this time I decided to also have progressives. It's weird to not have a line across, but I'm pretty sure it will all work out.
I had a telemed with the rheumatologist and he prescribed a new med to help with the joints. In advance I send him pics of my ankles and how they look (easier to see than me trying to lift my feet or lower the laptop). The good news the new med is only once a week. The so-so news is that it could take a few months before I feel any impact. I don't know why I read the side effects as the cure is sometimes worse than the illness. Keeping finger crossed that this will be a fairly good process. I have to remember that it took six months before the immunotherapy impacted my joints so it might take six months to heal as well. I also got the first in the Hep B series and have scheduled the second.
I had a wonderful dinner out with our former red hat ladies. We had to pivot when the restaurant we planned on going to was not open. The hard part about that is they took the reservation. Oh well, on to another place and I was the only one who had been there previously. It was a very nice dinner.
Plans are moving forward for my trip north. Hoping to be there about 3 April for at least a week. I'm starting to coordinate visits with as many people as I can.
Our community is still reeling from the underground propane tank explosion that killed one firefighter. The house is completely gone and if I read the update correctly at least six houses were damaged and up to four are uninhabitable. There is one firefighter still in the hospital, but he is doing very well. His wife writes updates on the Caring Bridge pages.
I visited my former client yesterday. I do love to just show up and bring her treats. I know her aides so it gives them a bit of a timeout when I'm there. A few weeks ago I got her digital picture frame going, but she did not like where it was so she unplugged it and put it away. Of course, that means when you do not shut down properly you can lose pics. So while I was there I added more pics and found the appropriate place where she can see it clearly. I plan on going again to transfer more pics from phone to the frame. She has thousands of pics on her phone and wonders why it has issues. I do have to laugh as most of know our TVs and such can be all handled via one remote. She has never learned that concept and has at least three remotes she uses. I tried previously to convince her of downsizing the remotes, but it's too overwhelming for her to learn how...so we all leave it be.
Well, my taxes are done and filed. I beginning to think the state of VA does not like me as I have to pay them again this year. I would not mind, but I only worked two weeks last year. I do not like the idea of paying quarterly taxes so I increased the deduction from my pension again (yes I did it last year). This time I increased much more so hopefully next year I'm at least even.
This past week I finished reading: "TOM LAKE" - Ann Patchett. A Reese's Book Club Selection - family secrets, love and growing up. "THE SANCTUARY" - Katrine Engberg - murder mystery set in Denmark. "SCORCHED GRACE" - Margot Douaihy - a Sister Holiday mystery. Nuns, arson, murder in New Orleans. All the books were good, but completely different.
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about (there are always more things about each day that are not listed here, but it's so interesting to google "whats important about ...) :
