It was a good week at work. The dog and I are out there twice a day, just shorter walks. I try to keep her on the grass and/or shaded areas as much as possible. Once she takes of business, she heads toward home pretty quickly. My client hosted a small lunch for a few neighbors so I helped set up and such. It provided me the opportunity to shorten my day.
I saw the oral surgeon and my gum and jawbone are healing. I don't have to return until November to start next step in process. I arrived a bit earlier than I expected and it was too hot to sit in the car. The good news is that I was seen and home before my scheduled appointment.
I had a wonderful dinner with friends. We get together every six/eight weeks and it's so fun. Good food/good wine/good laughs are always soothing for the soul. I cherish times spent with those in my circle as there are so many I can't see as often.
It seems this summer has been full of doctors/hospitals/clinics, etc. If not for me then for my friends. I know we reach a certain age and things start to happen, but I guess I hoped it was in the future still. Luckily, we have good support systems in place as we check on each other whether near or far. For me, I just can't wait to have this cast removed (2 more weeks) as it's so darn itchy and stinky (trying to stay downwind). I am surprised I don't give myself a black eye or knock myself out while sleeping. When I wake up in the morning my cast is laying against my cheek or skull.
I finished reading: "SOOLEY" by John Grisham - a very interesting book about a young basketball player from Africa. "ALL THE UGLY AND WONDERFUL THINGS" by Bryn Greenwood - a well-written book about a couple of tough subjects. I watched "THE HOUSE OF GUCCI" (2021) - longer movie than I expected considering how it moved through the story. I also felt like they mumbled through most of it.
