Spending a few days at Myrtle Beach with some friends. I got to have lunch with my cousin whom I don't get to see too often in Georgetown. After lunch we sat under on a bench (under a tree) and enjoyed a nice breeze as we caught up. I can't say I've seen too many masks since I've been here, but you can rest assured my squad is wearing them when in stores/restaurants. I overheard someone (with a mask) ask a cashier about masks as the majority of workers are not wearing them; she replied it's up to you whether or not you wear one. Weather has been warm as expected (thank goodness for a/c). Seeing many golf carts from our porch. Lots of people here as it seems the season has begun.
Well, I turned 63 this past week so I was in a reflective mood much of the time. Do you get that way around birthdays? I received lots of birthday wishes and beautiful flowers (which were transported to the beach). Also the same day I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in my left knee. I had to video chat with the doctor and then get x-rays. I had to laugh at some of his questions. Have you fallen? Well, not recently, but oh so many times in my life. Have you broken or sprained anything? Well, again not recently, but oh so many times in my life. I said, I know I should not admit this, but I did try to figure it out by looking online so it's either arthritis or a bakers cyst. I honestly was betting on the cyst and I think he was too. Oh well,a pain a day it seems after a certain age.
I worked the beginning of the week and kept myself busy. There are times when it's hard to do what I do. My one client's spouse needed a medical procedure so the client was placed in a facility for respite care (good timing as I was going away). I assisted with packing and got my client ready for transport and then helped get him settled in the facility. It seemed my client looked to me for guidance/comfort as we went through the process and kept a nice hold of my hand. My client actually seemed content as we left. My client's spouse was glad I was there as I could answer some of the check-in questions and explain some of the behaviors/needs. My client will be home by the time I work again this coming week.
This past week I finished reading: "28 SUMMERS" by Elin Hilderbrand. Perfect summer beach read;. It's about an affair that takes place over 28 summers. Easy to read.
