I had a great week at work. It's been great getting to know my client and walking her dog through the neighborhood twice a day. I've seen former colleagues and caught up with a friend or two. My chiropractor is happy I'm walking a bit more (to be honest so am I). I usually pride myself on not putting a jacket on until after Thanksgiving, but walking a dog had me bundled up in the wind the other day. The hours seem to fly by during my shift as we chit chat. I received the greatest compliment (at least in my mind) when my client said, I feel when you are here that you are not an aid, but a friend.
For me, with Thanksgiving approaching, I tend to focus on memories of those no longer with us. I also think about those who have come into my life and then when it was time moved out of my life. I am grateful for the memories created and lessons learned by/from/with them and I wish them peace. I do believe people come in to our lives for a reason, perhaps at a time when they need us or we need them. We, in some way touch/leave a bit of ourselves with all those we encounter so I try to leave a good mark. Whether it be a smile, a kind word, a helping hand, or a good tip, I try to foster an acknowledgement that I appreciate them. It's not always easy, but I try.
This week I finished reading: "MEMORY MAN" by David Baldacci - fast paced psychological thriller. It was very good. "SHIPWRECKED" by Dennis Hale - autobiography of the sole survivor of the steamship Daniel J. Morrell in November 1966 - amazing story.
