Well, you all know how my week went so I won't bore you again with details. Suffice it to say, I'm resting quite a bit. The hard part is not being able to shower or wash my hair until I'm given permission. Hate to say it, but a sponge bath just does not cut it...LOL!
Before my surgery on Thursday, my BFF and I were very busy cleaning out our garage. Well, I must say we succeeded. We have not had so much space in our garage since we moved in over twenty years ago. We filled my van and then I reached out to the young couple starting out next door. Well, they were ecstatic and could not believe the items we were giving away. Since they had come from a condo, they were happy for some yard tools and outdoor items. What they did not want I drove to charity the next day to get it moving. We also had a local hauling company come on Friday and take heavier items for the dump.
The biggest hardest effort was/is devoted to Xmas. We brought almost all the Xmas stuff into the house and slowly but surely we are paring down somewhat. We donated two large totes of Xmas items yesterday and I'm sure will have more before done. Since I am on restrictions for lifting/toting/etc., I am not as much help as I want to be, but I can look items over and say keep/go...LOL!
The upside of my journey (and I will keep looking for snippets of joy) is that I have been forced to stop and smell the roses so to speak. I am doing my damnedest to accept help (not easy at all) and to listen when a nap calls my name. It's hard to sleep well when half your head is covered in scabs and a bolster. I am also focusing on being grateful/thankful for those in my life.
I will admit I feel as if I aged a few years this past week. But I think when the swelling goes down and I'm allowed to shower I'll feel as good as new. I am trying to keep a sense of humor on the journey.
This past week I finished reading: "A COLD TRAIL" and "IN HER TRACKS" by Robert Dugoni - both part of the Tracy Crosswhite detective series. I watched: "THE U.S. AND THE HOLOCAUST" - a 3-part docuseries by Ken Burns - America's response to the Holocaust, and how it challenged the ideals of democracy.

I am leaving it here for today. It's 0500 and still dark so perhaps I'll head back to bed for a bit. I hope you have a wonderful week. Please take a moment to embrace thankfulness. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
