Overall, it was a good week. I worked an extra day with my client as her other caregiver had a family emergency. At least I was able to work the hours around my scheduled chiropractor appointment. The good news that made my client so happy was that I was able to send her Thank You notes to the hospital. It took a couple of days of telephone tag, but I spoke with the Director of Volunteer Services about the dilemma. She told me to provide as much information as I knew and to send the cards directly to her. She will take them directly to the appropriate areas. I did not expect that, but was so happy. My client is ecstatic and feels a weight lifted off her shoulders.
As my client is mainly housebound, she lives vicariously through me. She wants to believe I have adventures and such when I leave at the end of the day. Much of the time I have nothing to report as I go home and lead a boring life. If I stop along the way or go out to dinner, she wants details. Sometimes, I feel bad that I do not live more glamorously to keep her entertained.
This past week I finished reading: "DISCLOSURE" By Michael Crichton (1993) - so interesting and based on a true story of corporate politics, power, greed and sexual harassment. "AWAKENED BY THE LIGHT" by Sabina Zak - a collection of poems inspired by true stories. "WHAT WE SAW" by the CBS News Division (2002) - journalists accounts of 9/11.
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about:
