Wow, what a difference a bit of landscaping makes! After 20 plus years of thinking about doing something, it's done! (Pictures posted on personal FB page.) All mulch, overgrown bushes, leaning mailbox, etc. were removed. The stamped concrete walkway is wider, curved and ramped right up to the front door (thinking of possible future needs). The two jungle corners of our backyard have been replaced with sod. The new mailbox and solar lighted house number look awesome. Next up: schedule driveway replacement. A funny moment: Did you know it costs to have cement recycled? For this reason, we asked the landscaping team to place the old landscape bricks near the curb. I was going to place on neighborhood FB page as a free item for pickup. I came home from work and it was gone. I asked the team where it went (I thought by accident they put on trailer for recycling)? They told me a neighbor came and picked up. I had not even posted it yet, but it turns out my neighbor across the street wanted them for his yard so he hauled them away. Garry, our landscape designer and his team were excellent and easy to work with.
My workweek was busy as I dug into my client's closet and got out fall decorations for her to work on at her leisure. I also shuttled her to a doctors appointment. It's funny how her doctor is suddenly all about followup and referrals. My client received seven referrals letters the other day so let the phone calls and coordination begin.
I had a wonderful dinner with friends the other evening. We sat outside on a lovely night. It was the first time in a while this whole group was together. One in our group has dementia and it's difficult to see the changes. She seemed stable for a bit of time, but is now moving to a different phase.
This past week I read two excellent books: "THE GIRLS WHO STEPPED OUT OF LINE" by Major General Mari K. Eder - untold stories of the women who changed the course of World War II. "A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE" by Sonia Purnell - the untold story of Virginia Hall. Both of these books are about courage and survival. In my opinion, these are the types of books young people should be encouraged to read. I watched: "MCENROE" documentary - very interesting.
