Have you started your shopping for the holidays? I had a little fun on "Prime" Day, ordered a few gifts, books (of course) and a new Fitbit for myself. My old one died months ago so I decided it was time to pick up another and the deal was good. Most of the boxes arrived on the same day - those poor delivery people. When I'm home during the day I hear deliveries up/down the street all day long.
Work went well as my client and I walked - even on the day I was not too sure he would want to. I think he is understanding when we say how much better his back will feel when we walk (even a small one). I had a few extra hours of work this week as I was trained on a new time sheet tracker and listen to a zoom presentation on supplemental insurance. I was able to meet two colleagues, the admin assistant and the boss/owner of the company (for the first time). All of my communications with the company are via email, text or phone. It's weird to work so alone in many ways and not know or come together with colleagues. It's the nature of this business, but it definitely makes me miss the team settings I had previously.
Under a lot of stress this past week in dealing with selling of the Plymouth house. I swear sometimes attorneys cause more problems than they solve (sorry attorneys). I'm a planner and they've had quite a few weeks to review and get ready. The day before settlement/closing the other attorney starts questioning some old paperwork that could have been fixed much sooner. It's difficult to deal with some of this long distance at the last minute and I swear that attorney is trying to prove his worth or run up his bill. The harder part for me is to give up control, but when I am a few states away I have to depend on others to get it done. I've been cursing up a storm and scanning/emailing documents almost every day (and I'm not the buyer). I keep thinking if it's meant to be then it will happen, but it does not help my sleep. Hopefully, things will get back on track on Monday.
I enjoyed a lovely late afternoon/evening with friends around a fire pit. Mexican food and s'mores were on the menu as we celebrated birthdays. As it got dark, the sky was clear and the stars bright. A great way to catch up. No worries we socially distanced.
This past week I finished reading: "THE BOOK OF LOST FRIENDS" by Lisa Wingate. It's a historical novel which brings to life stories from the actual "Lost Friends" ads that ran in Southern newspapers after the Civil War as freed slaves tried to find family. I also watched: "Bombshell" (2019) about the women of Fox and Roger Ailes; and Little Women (2019) a latest adaptation of the 1868 novel - a little confusing to me, but then again, I'm a huge fan of the original.
