We started the week in Mounds View MN and spent a few days visiting with family. They may not be my family by blood, but they are by choice, thanks BFF for sharing. We explored quite a few places we have not been previously. As we departed we traveled to Austin MN to visit the SPAM museum and I have to say it's so much fun. We then continued on to Dyerville, Iowa to see site of the movie "Field Of Dreams." We walked the field and even went into the corn and came out. We stayed in Dyersville that evening. We traveled to Jacksonville, Illinois to have lunch with a special young man in our lives Brock and his daughter Charli (so cute). When we left them we went to Springfield, Illinois to see Lincoln's Tomb (so interesting). We left there and traveled to Casey, Illinois to visit with our friends Le ann and Lilly and to see all the new items in the towns "Big Things" collection. When we departed Illinois we headed to Bridgeton, Indiana for the covered bridge festival. This festival is huge and runs for 10 days (and includes several different sites). It was so crowded and had so many craft and food vendors. We stopped at Cataract Falls Indiana (largest waterfall in state). Then on to Batesville Indiana and the awesome hospitality of our friends Ed and Belinda. We had so much fun with them exploring the area and learning about where Belinda grew up. Thank you to Ed for the video he made for us. We left this morning and headed to Louisville Kentucky and explored the Churchill Downs museum and the Louisville Slugger museum. We tried to go to the Woodford Reserve for some bourbon tasting, but they are sold out until November. Oh well, their loss not ours. We did get to see some beautiful Kentucky horse farms along the way. We ended our day in Corbin Kentucky as we will stop at Cumberland Falls in the morning.
As you can see from the above we are trying to fit many things into this trip. We just said that we could spend a week in Kentucky as there are so many things to explore. Oh well, perhaps another trip will be planned. Today was the first day we were around some rude people, but it is what it is. We have traveled so many roads that can be barely called roads. They hardly fit two cars never mind when you see an 18 wheeler coming at you. It's hard to believer these are main routes.
I think this trip has been so good so far. I have had only one cup of coffee since October started and yes I had a headache for the first three days. Water, water, water and an occasional adult beverage. We share the driving so no one is worn out at the end of the day. We are usually in sync when it comes to getting up and ready for the day and stopping for a break. We try to give each other some space so we don't get on each other's nerves. We've added a few souvenirs to the van, but still have some space to add more...(LOL).
I have not finished any books again this week. I'm too tired at the end of the day to read.
