I had a busy week as I worked my regular shifts. My job is not physically taxing so not too hard to work. It felt good to be out walking the dog (although hot). As I've said previously many people think I live the community so quite a few stopped to ask questions about my arm. No worries, I reassured them I did not fall there. Even the woman cashier I usually see at the grocery store was concerned and provided warnings about falling at my age.
My arm/wrist is a bit tender today as on Friday I received a new cast (feels a little tighter which I guess is a good thing). The x-ray shows my wrist is stable (whatever that means) and healing. It tickled when the old cast was removed as I felt the vibrations of the saw through my whole body. I requested to wash my arm as it was flaky, itchy and stunk. At first they said no because they did not want me moving my arm, but when I whined (yes I can do that) they allowed me to wipe my arm down with alcohol soaked gauze strips. I guess they took pity on this 64 year old white haired woman. Three more weeks of awkwardness. Overall, I'm doing fine, you just don't realize how difficult it can be to dress, carry a dish, and do simple things until you are broken a bit.
Funny story of not paying attention: I went to x-ray (in same facility), I checked in or so I thought. My number popped up and I went. As I walked in, I realized I was headed into the lab and thought oh yeah I need my pneumonia shot perhaps in this facility they do it in the lab. Nope...I forgot my doctor had ordered blood work to be done next time I was at the lab. I let them draw the blood and then went to radiology they share a waiting area and checked in.
This past week I finished reading: "SISTERS OF NIGHT AND FOG" by Erika Robuck - two women in two different countries and how they came to fight during World War II. Very well written. I watched: "12 MIGHTY ORPHANS" (2021) - good movie.
