If you are on the east coast, you know it was a crazy week for gas lines. I was blessed in that I did not need to gas up until Friday morning and by then no line/no problem - price was up, but not as bad as expected. I saw that one gas station in Richmond charged $6.00 a gallon...talk about gouging! It so reminded me of the 1970s when we had to only get gas on odd/even days and the lines were long. I am always amazed at those people who feel the need to hoard an item such as gas which is much more dangerous than the TP of last year. What brings out that instinct in people? Is it fear? Is it control? Is it an uncontrollable impulse? Is it a get rich quick scheme? I don't have the answers...just lots of questions as always.
I feel safer for myself and clients now that I'm done with vaccines and passed the two week mark. I know everyone is jumping for joy at the lifting of mask mandates, but I'm still taking precautions. If you are not in my circle, I won't know if you are vaccinated, therefore I'll wear a mask. I do look forward to being out a bit more, but moving cautiously. I'm not ready for crowded venues yet, but hopefully by fall I'll be ready to participate in group events again. Life is returning to normal somewhat as traffic is really picking up around here.
Happy to report our washing machine was fixed....YEAH!!!!! Over three weeks without and I can't even describe what my bedroom looked like. I had three loads of towels between my regular ones and the ones used to clean up the leak. I've done at least a load every day and will catch up today. I think I have a phobia about the laundromat as I avoid if at all possible. My aunt Barbara worked in one when I was young and I spent a lot of time there with her so I have some fond memories of helping her. I've always tried to live in places with a washer/dryer so I could avoid the laundromat.
This past week I finished reading: "SEND FOR ME" by Lauren Fox. Family bonds from the beginning of WWII to today. Good read although for me a little bit disjointed.
