I'm not sure what to say about what's happening in the world with this pandemic. People are scared, angry, anxious, hoarding, freaking out, etc. Can you relate to any of these feelings/actions? There are no easy answers and so many questions. We are bombarded with stories some factual, some exaggerated. Social media has not helped and continues to spread fear and pandemonium. An forget about the conspiracy theorists, I need data for believe any of that. For those who decided to buy every product and then sell at huge profits, part of me admires the foresight and the other part of me says karma will come around. I do feel horrible for events canceled and plans gone by the wayside. In my logical mind, it seems some things being done are like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted. I try to find the more positive stories of those helping others, the schools and senior centers trying to stay open to provide meals to those in need; neighbors helping neighbors. It will be interesting to see how quickly technology helps people adapt to changes in routine. On a lighter note, some people wish social distancing had happened a little sooner. I am trying to remain calm and keep my routine as much as possible. There are two things I never realized, how much I touched my face and how quickly hands dry out from so much washing. I do believe it will get worse before it gets better, but trying to remain positive. I am trying to limit what I read/hear so I don't absorb all the emotions and become anxious myself.
My workweek went well. I worked extra hours to help out the company. With some people removing loved ones from facilities and bringing them home; the home health care companies are getting inundated with more requests. I know PT/OT people who can no longer enter facilities which will limit the care their patients need.
One of my clients watches a lot of trash TV and nothing else. She forgot to change the channel the other day and the Mel Robbins show came on. It's an inspirational-focused talk show and I found it very interesting. From a life coach perspective, it was right up my alley. It was so nice to not have people screaming and bleeping every three seconds. My client did not change the channel so perhaps she enjoyed it a bit as well. Sorry to see it was not picked up for a second season.
There are many weeks I do not really review my mail until the weekend. I might peruse the stack to see if anything personal/important should be opened, but many times I just let it sit. Yesterday, I opened the 2020 Census envelope and thought while I'm sitting here get it done - especially since it's online. It was super easy, but surprised me a time or two. Hope you'll take a few moments out of your day to get it done.
I had a wonderful massage the other day. I did not realize how much I needed it until I was done and could move most of my limbs without stiffness. I'm so glad I incorporated massage back into a monthly routine. A little self care goes a long way. How about you? What do you do for self care?
This week I finished reading: "WRITERS AND LOVERS" by Lily King (recommended by Jenna Bush Hager Book Club). A young writer's coming of age in 1997. It was not one of my favorites, but I am glad I finished it. "THE JETSETTERS" by Amanda Eyre Ward (recommended by Reese's Book Club). A dysfunctional family with many secrets wins a first class cruise and learns much about each other. It was interesting. Both books pretty quick reads.
