Well I had quite a week...learned a few things, had an adventure or two and with the heat we had I glowed quite a bit. I finally figured out how to sync the Android app between my phone and car so GPS will appear on the screen. I did this just in time for an adventure in the country. I went to visit a friend at her new house. I knew part of the way, but she lives even further and there are roads out that way. I was able to stop at a bakery/market I have not been to in many years. As I got further out into the country, I laughed as I imagined the music from the movie Deliverance playing. We had a lovely afternoon with quite a few laughs. I was even "hit on" by a good old country boy at a local restaurant (it did make my day). On the way home, traffic was detoured for an accident and I remembered where another friend lived long ago and wove my way through the neighborhood (with the help of GPS) and came out where I needed to. Of course, one tire still had a problem and I had to stop and put air in it. I then detoured to stop at another friend's house to pick up an item. Well, she lives out in a rural area as well. As I got closer to her house, I saw cows coming down a lane toward me. Apparently they got out from the local farm and were busy exploring. I then saw geese and ducks. When I got to her house, she asked if I saw the local peacocks as they sometimes block the street strutting their plumage. I kept an eye out on the way out of her neighborhood, but did not see them. It was an adventurous day.
Monday morning started with a trip to the local gas station for more air in my tire. That afternoon I went to the car dealer. I am not a fan of my local dealer and their staff, but I did what I needed to do. Turns out I had a large nail in one tire and they were able to patch. As I mentioned in my last blog, my favorite mechanic found a leak in my shock/strut so I brought that to the attention of the dealer. They had to order a part for the leaky strut....guess I'll be going back there in a few weeks.
Of course, the heat was so oppressive - it is August after all. We did have a couple of strong storms come through. It's a bit difficult when you work with the elderly who are always cooler and can live without the A/C on much of the time. I try to keep all involved hydrated (especially me). I may not have used as much elbow grease as I cleaned up or assisted them, but everything got done. I worked every day so I was pretty tired and glowed quite a bit by Friday afternoon.
This past week I finished reading: "THE BOOK OF LOST NAMES" by Kristine Harmel and "TRANSCENDENT KINGDOM" by YAA Gyasi.
