Overall, I had a very good week. Yes I was social again and out of the house a few times. I tried two new restaurants (at least to me) with friends and they were both very very good. One was a new upscale Italian cafe where all meats and cheeses are imported from Italy. The owner has you sample what is available that day and explains everything along the way. It has a small market where you can buy Italian food products and a few pre-made meals. Let me just say...delicious! The other restaurant is a little more formal with a bit more history as it's been around since 1999, but was a bank for more than 50 years. Service was a little slow, but the food was delicious as well.
I met with my new dermatologist for a checkup. I know I'm older, but I still think it's weird to meet someone for the first time and be practically naked for a skin check. She was very thorough and I got a good report. She did recommend a new cream as I still have itchy skin. I'll be seeing her every three months for a while.
I was able to get a few things organized and put away. Some days it takes me a while to get going and other days I can get things done. I even worked on tax papers (I usually don't start this early), but want to be sure I have all in appropriate order.
I did not nap a lot this past week, but I did manage to sneak a few in. I noticed they were not as long as I previously took so perhaps my body is getting a little stronger (keeping fingers crossed). I lived 2023 in three week increments and I keep thinking it's almost time for another treatment or I should be getting bloodwork done. I know it's a mindset, but although I'm receiving good reports, I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop in a sense. I know I'm good to go except for the joints, but still I hesitate to do much. Of course, I can blame the cold weather for not wanting to do to much, but I won't. I just need to push myself a little and I will.
This past week I finished reading" "FOLLY BEACH" by Dorothea Benton Frank - a low country tale. A woman returns to the past to find her future in this tale of loss, acceptance, family, and love. I did not realize this is a series so may have to catch up at some point, if my read pile ever runs low...LOL! I watched: "DEVOTION" (2022) - The inspirational true story of Jesse Brown, the first Black aviator in U.S. Navy history, and his enduring friendship with fellow fighter pilot Tom Hudner. Helping to turn the tide in the most brutal battle in the Korean War. Very good movie. "ARE YOU THERE GOD, IT'S ME MARGARET" (2023) - a young woman coming of age in the 1970. It was good. I read the book about a million years ago by Judy Blume.
