I had an overall good week. Enjoyed catching up with several friends over some good food. Tried a new restaurant (at least for me) and celebrated birthdays with friends. Lady and I got quite a bit of walking in during the good weather breaks. Friday night she snuggled with me (wrapped in a beach towel) because she got soaked during a walk and then the thunder spooked her a little. Lady has become a bit more vocal when it comes to wanting her meals and/or snacks and when it's time for bed (only because she gets a snack). She is funny to watch as her whole body goes into her bark.
I explored a bit more of Northern Virginia as I took different roads and traveled to different areas. WOW the building here is unbelievable. Many roads that were two-lanes are now expanded and filled with traffic. They have created several crossover bridges to eliminate traffic lights. There are speed bumps and traffic/calming circles (small rotaries for my northern friends) in places that are somewhat unexpected. What was once considered "country" has become almost urban with so many houses and shopping centers - it's amazing. I still don't understand building new shopping centers when the old ones are empty.
I want to say Happy Mother's Day to those blessed to be a mom. A special day for my young friends that are first time moms....you rock! I have been sort of ignoring this day being the first one with my mom physically gone. And, as we all know just because we ignore something does NOT make it go away. In many ways, ALZ took my mom away a few years ago and I grieved during that stretch of time. Yet it's no surprise that I feel sort of blah today. It is a day of reflection for many of us whose moms are no longer here. I am focusing on happier memories and stories. The songs I used to sing to her have been front and center in my brain for a few days. On walks, I saw quite a few cardinals (angels) this past week. For those of you blessed to be moms, please create lots of memories and share your history with your children.
Still have not finished a book although I am almost done...LOL! Was too busy driving around and exploring. I will be done with one this week and will write about it next. Hope you are reading something fun.
