I had a good week with a few things getting done. I did a little more yard work. I trimmed down another overgrown bush and cleaned out some of the growth around it. A few more to go, but no hurry. It amazes me how fast and big some of them grow.
Yesterday I had a wonderful brunch with a former colleague. It was a great day to enjoy a bit of outdoor dining and catch-up with someone in person. The internet is great for connecting and keeping up, but it does not beat an in-person get together in my book. All safety precautions were followed. I did chuckle as the restaurant had almost a jungle atmosphere on their patio with huge potted plants separating spaces. The food (I had a Greek omelet) and mimosa were wonderful, but the company was even better.
I cooked a little over the week. I made and tried for the first time BBQ chicken pizza. So simple and so good...I think it will be in my repertoire for a while. I've been trying a few different recipes over the past few months - nothing overly complicated. As my BFF does the majority of grocery shopping, I either let her know what I'm thinking about or she picks up whatever at the store and I go to town. She does the baking and I do the cooking...works out so well. What about you? Tried anything new in terms of recipes over the past few months?
My client and I had a few good walks this past week. We even sat on the patio of his complex for a bit and enjoyed the sunny day. They have wonderful fall decorations set up around the complex. Keeping my fingers crossed for decent walking weather this week as I know rain is headed our way. Dealing with those who have dementia/alz, requires much patience (which can be hard if you have a timeline/schedule that needs to be followed) and a sense of humor. It also requires understanding and meeting them where they are at the moment. It's harder on spouse/family than usually others. It's so interesting to watch the dynamics.
My area had a FIOS outage the other day and it lasted most of the night. So the landline was dead, no TV or internet connections from home. We keep a TV on most of the time for background noise. The quiet did not bother me, but my BFF broke out a small portable TV with rabbit ears (it gave us a few chuckles as she set it up). We watched for a bit with a few adjustments. Then we realized we could watch the DVR so caught up on a show or two. Internet was up again the next morning, thank goodness, as some papers I was waiting for had come though. The things we take for granted these days.
This week I finished reading: "THE GIFT OF FORGIVENESS" by Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt. Very well written. I watched: "The Comey Rule" miniseries recorded from Showtime. This was a very well done perspective of an honorable man. It's based on the book - "A Higher Loyalty" by James Comey which I have not read.
