The past week just flew by for me. I guess I was busy catching up with life in Virginia and all of a sudden it was the weekend. I had a good week though, I was able to visit and catch up with so many of the people in my life. I really like face-to-face catching up vice just reading messages on my phone or Facebook. Don't get me wrong they are all good ways to keep in touch, but I truly love face-to-face. I have a few more people to see through the month, but I'll get there. I had a great dinner with the ladies from my Red Hats group as we got caught up with our lives. I also attended a Happy Hour with some of the people I worked with and had a great time. I miss most of the people I worked with, but would not want to get caught up in those meetings again. I told someone when I'm in Virginia I feel like I am retired and then I think perhaps I should work a little. I don't think I'm ready to work as I don't get excited by that thought. I just need to work at my businesses as I can manage them and travel back and forth for a while. How are you keeping up with the people in your life? Are you balancing precariously between work and home? Is there any way I can help with coaching?
This past week I was able to connect with the dentist, chiropractor and acupuncturist - trying to get everything lined up correctly (lol!). I also worked out every day - three times with my trainer. I think he was surprised that I had maintained while gone by going to a gym in Massachusetts. He challenged me naturally, but even I was surprised that I could keep up. Yesterday I went to two Jazzercise classes and I even completed a routine on the floor that I have never been able to do previously (YEAH!!). This morning I walked 17300 steps before 1030 at a really good pace. I needed to practice some distance as I have another 1/2 marathon coming up in two weeks in Philly. It was a good morning to walk as it was a bit chilly and I tested if my clothing would be warm enough. I will need to layer for Philly, but don't want to have to toss anything along the walk. I feel pretty good about what I'm doing for myself with physical and medical care. Five years ago I would never have imagined all this activity...LOL! I can't believe how much physical activity is now part of my life. What about yours? What are you doing to take care of yourself? Physical? Medical? Emotionally? Is there anything that I can help with through coaching?
The good news of this past week is that all insurance paperwork is completed and approved for my mom. Finally, it has only taken four months, but YEAH it's done. I have been so blessed in my life with experience and knowledge of bureaucracies and how to work through them, but was this ever a test of my patience and emotions. Hopefully, no more will need to be done.
I finished reading two excellent books this week: "I AM MALALA" by Malala Yousafzai with Christina Lamb. This is the story of Malala who was shot by the Taliban for standing up for girls education. Her story is amazing. Her family was her source of strength and courage. I can't even comprehend being sixteen and going through all that she has gone through. Also to be the winner of a Nobel Peace Prize at her young age. She is an inspiration herself. You will also learn about some of the history of Pakistan and the Taliban.
I also read: "LIFE BY THE CUP" by Zhena Muzyka. This book provides ingredients for a purpose-filled life. Zhena is the founder of Zhena's Gypsy Tea. She starts every chapter with a description of a fabulous tea blend. This is an inspiring book and I find I want to drink more tea. She provides great insight and inspiration as she describes her own struggles and how she developed her company.
A belated shout out to my sister Marion as it was her birthday yesterday. She celebrated with the family and even managed to meet and greet a possible dog for my dad. We'll see how it goes - I mentioned before that I will probably go back to Massachusetts and a new pet. I must admit I was so against this earlier and still have some reservations, but I so empathize with the loneliness of my dad that I withdrew some of my objections. When a final decision is made I'll post a picture of the new family member.
I am going to leave it here for today. I want to watch the pre-game show and get a few things done. I hope you have a wonderful week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
