Well, it's a bit chilly this morning about 19 I believe it said. It's been bundle up to walk with Lady weather. I have a little vest for her to wear and she does not seem to mind most of the time. She does get a little pep in her step with the chill in the air. She is definitely slowing down in many ways, but I guess at 12 it's expected. But when she gets ornery, she's hysterical. Lady does get a little jealous when I'm assisting mom with meals and she does not have anything. She is right under me waiting for any droppings and if I don't drop she will bark to get my attention. When that happens, I take her to the sun porch for a little time out.
I spent much of the week watching President Bush's funeral. I shed many tears for a man so loved and respected. I may not have known him personally, but I did meet him many years ago. I think of everything he has seen and gone through in his life and I'm in awe. The pomp and circumstance of a State funeral is like nothing else in this country. I am not sure I could have endured all the formalities/rituals that the Bush family went through and stayed as strong.
I have to write this morning about karma. I have always believed in it, but for many years I was not patient enough to wait for it or recognize it perhaps is a better word. I saw it in action this past week so to speak. Remember all of my stories about the "unfriendly" friendship club here, well, they got their comeuppance when the owners of the park/village pulled their sponsorship and removed their name from the title. They also put restrictions on what facilities the club can use and how it's used. The letters from the ownership were published and I have to say they contained a bit of misinformation, but I can understand them being so upset. I think if the club had listened to their membership and backed some really good ideas they could have moved forward. The club says it still exists, but I'm not sure how it will move forward. There will probably be many more months of turmoil as things are sorted out. I have not said a word one way or the other in months about the club, but I hear the stories.
The good news is the residents (without club backing) went forward with the annual gift collections for seniors and children. It was done in memory of a long time resident who passed this year and ran it for many years. I donated in honor of my father who so believed in this group of gift givers. I saw pictures and it looks like the biggest year yet.
Are you ready for Xmas yet? I have to say I pointed and clicked a lot. As I wrote on FB yesterday, when every delivery company comes in one day (some more than once) then you know you've clicked enough...LOL! I actually think I'm done shopping, except for maybe a stocking stuffer or two. I wrapped yesterday (hate doing that) and I need to pick up some wrapping paper today (hopefully) to finish up. Yes, I use bags as well, but sometimes I like to make people work for their gifts...LOL! I have a couple of boxes ready to be mailed, just need to get to the post office this week. As I don't bake at all, I don't have to worry about that stuff. The only thing left is to start working on the cards.
I did not finish any books this week as I tried to catch up with some of the Xmas movies and a few other shows I have on the DVR. I don't think I've ever had over 30% of the DVR used at once before...LOL! I think I'm still about 10 movies behind, but with most shows slowing down over the holidays, I'll catch up.
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about:
9 Christmas Card Day
9 International Children's Day - Second Sunday in December
9 National Pastry Day
10 Human Rights Day
11 National Noodle Ring Day
12 Channukah - date varies
12 National Ding-a-Ling Day
12 Poinsettia Day
13 Ice Cream Day
13 Violin Day
14 International Monkey Day
14 National Bouillabaisse Day
14 Roast Chestnuts Day
15 Bill of Rights Day
15 National Lemon Cupcake Day
As I finish this up the sky is clear, the sunrise was gorgeous. For my southern friends, so sorry you are getting snow as I know your area does not know how to handle it. I hope you have a wonderful week. Remember to spread a little cheer or at least sunshine where you go. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
