It was a quiet week overall. I can honestly say this morning, I can't remember most of the week. One day seemed to flow into the next. Mom spent most of the week resting. I'm glad her cousin visited and it was a day mom was up in the living room. Mom was not talkative, but I'm hoping hearing our voices talk about her family and past times brought her comfort.
With all that happened in the US, over the past couple of weeks, I could not help but think about bullies. Bullies come in all shapes and sizes; races; religions; etc. Is it a power thing? Is that truly all bullying is about? I looked up all the meanings of the word and it's hard to believe it's a word that started out meaning "sweetheart." Every definition uses words like: intimidation, power, strength, using others, etc. to describe it. Do bullies truly understand how their actions impact someone for years and years. Is it part of human nature? How do we teach children about bullying when they see adults acting so badly? I'm afraid to say I don't have the answers. It was just a topic that weighed heavily on my mind all week. I am hoping that I truly never bullied anyone and if I did I apologize.
I watched a few more new shows this past week: God Friended Me; Happy Together; The Neighborhood; and FBI. Of course, these are in addition to everything else I watch...LOL! I stopped watching a few of my former favorites and I can see myself giving up on a few more over the next few weeks. Anything catching your eye?
My niece visited yesterday and as we chatted, she asked me a couple of questions I'm still contemplating. She asked me if she got a ring in her nose (I looked it up and it's called septum rings or bovine rings) would I shun her? I laughed at first because of the word "shun" as I have not contemplated that before. I only have heard it used in relationship to religions. I said, I would not shun you. I don't have to like it and I'm not sure it's necessary, but it's your body. She seemed satisfied with that response, but I have to say the thought of it bothers me. I think to myself, if celebrities were not making these popular would she even care? Oh well, we'll see what the future brings.
I finished reading: "THIRTEEN REASONS WHY" by Jay Asher. A very powerful read. Although I had heard about this book, I finally read it. I can see why people felt it would impact so many others. Yes I know it was a Netflix series (have never watched). Of course, I also read murder/mayhem. My niece asked me today why I read that genre all the time and I could not come up with a good answer except I find them interesting.
