| Hi Everyone. Hope this finds you well and you had a good week. I am sitting here looking at the snow banks surrounding the house. The weather is mid to high 30s today so we do have some melting going on. Last night and this morning it snowed/sleeted. Puddles abound when you step outside, my only concern is if it turns to ice tonight. I had a busy week getting used to our new family member Buddy. For the most part he is a good boy and will be a good companion for my dad. He is still on the puppyish side so will need a little training. As my dad trained hunting dogs in the past, he is looking forward to some one-on-one time for training when i return to Virginia. As I whined a bit on FB this past week, who decided to get a dog that needs to be walked in the middle of the winter? It's ok, Buddy needed a family and we need Buddy. I'm definitely getting some walking exercise in, but my dad, trying to be as independent as possible has taken over most of the walks. I think he wants me to know that he can handle the responsibility and it gives him some much needed walking as well. My dad got a bit philosophical yesterday. As we drove to breakfast suddenly he said - Mother Nature likes to get us dirty (the snow was looking pretty gross) so she can send in the spring rains to clean it up. I thought to myself wow - not sure I could have thought of that. I thought about it for the rest of the day though and the spring rain brings the flowers and makes everything pretty again. The cycle of the seasons. This morning dad and I went to church. As the priest started the mass he welcomed us to the first Sunday of Lent. He went on to explain the meaning of the word Lent and it's origin. He laughed because he said the original meaning is Spring! He then turned to the floor length windows where it was snowing like crazy and laughed. He said don't worry about this snow stuff. The whole church started laughing. My dad looked at me and said - I don't think he likes this weather easy. I like to sit in this church because as you look at the alter there are floor length windows and you can see the wonders of nature as the property backs to a wooded area. Normally, you can see trees, birds, etc., today...snow and snow banks that are almost covering the windows. I know I should not admit this, but sometimes I don't even listen to the mass, but look out the windows and just say prayers. This is when I feel my faith and spirituality the most. Is there a special place where your spirituality and faith come alive for you? I was thinking about adaptation and change this past week. Most of the people in the neighborhoods around Plymouth have their mailboxes on the curb. For at least the past two weeks no mailboxes have been visible. As you may or may not know, the post office will not deliver mail if you do not have a mailbox. So what I have witnessed is how people have adapted items to be their new mailbox until the snow banks go away. I have seen waste baskets, boxes, plastic pails and buckets sitting on top of snow banks with numbers and notes indicating this is a mailbox. At first it made me laugh and then I thought about how we adapt to different situations and make changes to get something done. My dad has adapted to not driving any longer and maintain his independence. I made changes to my retirement life in order to be available for my family. Most of us don't regret the changes or adaptations and sometimes do not even notice they are happening until we are in the midst of something new. Have you made changes and/or adaptations to your life? expectations? How did you handle it? If you want to share please feel free to contact me. I have made a conscious decision to cut back on my other business. It's funny because in the past month I have turned down four new clients because I feel I would not be able to provide good customer service with my crazy schedule. The clients understand when I explain and I always provide a referral to a colleague. I keep thinking for a business that started on a whim, I could really have it be huge, but it's not my passion. Yes it would provide a decent income, but it's just not the income that matters to me, it's more about what do I love and want to continue to do. How about you? Are you doing what you want in life? Would you rather be doing something else? As a coach, I can work with you about finding your passion. I have been reading murder mysteries and love stories this past week. Trying to catch up on some old reading and online materials. What are you reading? I did catch up on a couple of tv shows and movies that I missed the first time round. I am providing a slide show of some of the snow in the past couple of weeks. Hope you enjoy! I am going to end it here today. Next week I should be back in Virginia. I hope you have a wonderful week.
