I had a wonderful vacation! I relaxed, swam, had a few adult beverages, listened to some wonderful music and even bought some gorgeous bling (one of my favorite things to do). I did take a nap or two on the deck. I was very careful about the sun (my niece laughed at me that I had SPF 100) when we went out on a catamaran, but I had to protect my fair skin. I'm too old for the blisters I had in my youth. I had to laugh in that the vacation started with rain as we drove to Baltimore and ended with rain as we drove back from Baltimore. We were able to take some great pictures and make wonderful memories. I believe my niece Melanie and her BFF Leandra had a great time as well and got to experience great food and service. They even experimented a little with different foods. The cruise ship had a wonderful tribute for veterans that brought tears to many eyes.
As I mentioned in my last blog, my thoughts were not far from papa and mema. Papa and my sister made sure I was on the trip before telling me that he was admitted to the hospital again. Same issues as previously and he was released in a few days. As I mentioned previously, he was determined that I go on vacation. He is one strong, stoic man. I admit I needed the break and definitely re-calibrated my core.
I'm still playing catch up from my vacation and that's ok. Laundry/unpacking/mail is not as important as spending time with papa and mema. Lady has barely left my side since I returned. She had her own adventure when I was gone as she stayed at my sister's house for a night or two and had to deal with Buddy (my sister's dog that looks like her brother). Buddy stayed hidden under the bed as Lady is not very friendly...although I did see a picture at one time of them each sleeping at opposite ends of the couch. She's very happy to be home and sleeping in her own beds.
I carry my energy stones with me almost where ever I go (including the cruise) to help me stay balanced in one way or another. They also remind me to stop for a moment and check in so to speak. I also carry rosary beads for prayer intentions. I hope you have something with you that reminds you to stop and breathe once in a while. I have been posting pictures on FB of the flowers and wild life from my morning walks. I take a picture of what I think is beautiful or odd. Part of the reason I do this is to appreciate nature and the beauty that surrounds me. I'm always reminded of the cycle of life when I see flowers bloom and then die and then something just as beautiful springs up in the same space. Some of the neighbors have gorgeous yards and I appreciate it and let them know when I can.
I finished a book while away (one of my murder/mayhem) and started another. I also caught up on newspapers and magazines (less to carry back).
I am going to leave it here for today. Time for a second cup of coffee and the next load of laundry. I hope you have a great week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
“You can talk with someone for years, everyday, and still, it won't mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person with your heart, you feel like you have known the person for forever.... connections are made with the heart, not the tongue.” - ― C. “You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy. So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles.” - ― C. JoyBell C.
