I wrote last week about being thankful/grateful and I am glad I did. It made me more conscious about my own feelings. For many years, my parents made up Xmas gift bags for nursing home recipients and donated them through a woman here in this home community. The woman passed away early this year and I did not give much thought to the gift giving (too much else on my mind). Plus with the stuff happening with the groups in this community (written about previously), I thought I'll give in other ways. Well, a notice showed up on the porch last week indicating the gift giving would continue and some suggested items. I admit I had many negative thoughts at first - think I felt a bit angry and worn down. Then when I realized it was being put together by the people (not part of the unfriendly groups) that helped with this in the past I took a step back. I thought about all that I truly have to be grateful for and my parents. I also decided if I had a chance to get out I would get a few items. Yesterday, for the first time in over six months I was able to spend a few minutes shopping (other than grocery) and I picked up items for the gift giving group. When I got home I felt such a sense of pleasure; and dare I say relief; as I sorted through the items and will eventually wrap.
I so believe in karma - sometimes I'm not patient enough to wait for it, but I'm getting a bit better. I'm hearing all kinds of stories about things happening in the "unfriendly" friendship club and I just keep thinking "karma" is a wonderful thing.
