Well, I have internet because I checked into a hotel about an hour ago. The work being done at the house tomorrow required me to turn on the AC and there is only so much heat/humidity I can take. I was going to stay in a hotel starting Wednesday for the rest of the week so what's two more days. I walked in to a nice chilly room and just sat on the bed and just sighed! I spent the morning taking stuff to the dumpsters and packing some of my car. I think I had sweat coming out of every pore. So I grabbed the big bottle of chilled wine, the block of cheese and box of crackers and headed to the hotel. I just may take a long nap after this.
Overall, last week was a good week filled with love, laughter, tears and joy. I had lunch with family one day at one of my favorite places. I had breakfast with a dear friend. We sat by the waterfront for four hours and talked about everything under the sun. I'm so happy for her and the journey she is on, we chatted about everything and anything. I had lunch with my friend since high school, we have always kept in touch and try to see each other at least once a year. We ate outdoors and chatted (opened our Xmas presents). We reminisced and I caught her up on the latest high school news as I am in a FB group with many.
Last week was busy as the painter was at the house every day and I was still cleaning out/packing up. Only a few pieces of furniture left and they will be headed out on Wednesday. What a difference a fresh coat of paint makes. He even found stain to freshen up the heat baseboards and the trim. It looks awesome and he cleaned up his stuff every day. I will give him a reference at any time. The hardest part was writing that check for payment....but it was worth it. The cleaners come Thursday and the carpet cleaners on Friday. Then my work will be done.
I have to say, I am ready to say good-by to the house. I think when the first big batch of furniture left and the painting started my attitude changed a bit. I am glad to know I gave everything to people who need it and want it. This is not my childhood home so that makes a big difference as well. My
